Personally, I disagree with #6 Shout by Lulu is a great song, but others certainly belong to that list.

Agree with most, though never heard # 4, 5, 6, & 7

There's so many songs that would be ranked as the most worst...

Steve Perry "Oh Sherry" and Vanilla Ice "Ice Ice Bay" would also rank on the top of the list

Not in any particular order, and by no means a complete list but I gotta go to work

Love Hurts - Nazareth
Stairway to Heaven - Led Zep
Freebird - Lynyrd Skynyrd
Loving You - Minnie Ripperton

OH sherry I wouldnt rank in the worst ever songs but to replace it I would add "Pop in old oak" by the Rednecks.

I can tolerate Cotton eye Joe, but the other song is just terrible, it really is.

I actually like Agadoo by Black Lace.  So much that years ago, I paid big $$ to get a Black Lace greatest hits CD lol
The 1974 French version of 'Agadou' by Quebec singer Patrick Zabé was recently worked into a fun commercial for Mini-Wheats
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YHWpGb3zYnM

For me, the most irritating songs ever are ...

♦ No Transitory - Alexisonfire (More than just annoying, it's utter crap)
♦ You Are So Beautiful - Joe Cocker
♦ Don't Hold Back - Chanson
♦ Electric Avenue - Eddy Grant
♦ Be Good Johnny - Men at Work

The latter two I can tolerate, but after so much, I wanna run away screaming lol

Oh, Sherry has got to be the MOST annoying song ever, I agree.

Let's also add:

Hanson - Mmmm Bop
Right Said Fred - I'm Too Sexy
Kenny Loggins - Danger Zone
Kool & The Gang - Celebration

Anything, and I mean ANYTHING by the Spice Grils.

I'm desperately trying to!

I honestly still don't know how that song ever became a hit.

Along with the whole world and his wife!

It's over 7 minutes of weirdness that I never understood

Okay, I'll really don the anorak and inform you it was actually 8 minutes 22 seconds of weirdness that nobody understood...

I think it's sheer weirdness made it a 'novelty' (which in turn made it sell, sadly...)

We were only spared it from being #1 by Dave Stewart & Barb Gaskin's 'It's My Party', so for that we should be eternally grateful!

Subject: Re: ‘Most Irritating Song Ever’ ???

I think there's a difference in how I perceive certain songs to be annoying (although almost anything, if it's overplayed enough, can become irritating, lol). For instance, you could go on and say "I'm Too Sexy", "Who Let The Dogs Out" or something like that is cheesy. In a way they are, but those strike me as being intentionally silly and with a campy factor, so they can get away with it. When it's actually intended as a serious song which is grating, that's when it gets on my nerves, like "You're Beautiful" or anything from Nickelback. ;D

Out of what's been mentioned so far I really don't have a problem with

You’re Beautiful — James Blunt
Stairway to Heaven - Led Zep
Loving You - Minnie Ripperton
You Are So Beautiful - Joe Cocker

And for

Hanson's "MMMBop", yes it's bad **BUT** the badness (ie., those funky "MMMBops" or whatever they are) really don't start for a least 1 min. into the song. So its first 50 seconds or so isn't all that bad -- or at least give it credit for its first 10 seconds?

"Goodies" - Ciara
"Let's Get Retarted" - Black Eyed Peas
Pon De Replay - Rihanna
Anything by Nickelback
"Dont cha" - The Pussycat Dolls... Both the title and the line "Don't you wish your girlfriend was hot like me" has grammatical errors.
"Hot In Herre" - Nelly... The title and everything else sucks.

Yep...by nearly two and a half minutes!

'O Superman' still remains one of the longest things that was squeezed onto a 7" hit single, but not the longest!

Grand Funk Railroad had their one and only British hit with 'Inside Looking Out' in 1971, which clocked in at nearly 10 minutes!

If memory serves, the single had to be played at 33 rpm because of the length!

Feelings - Morris Albert (The only thing worse then this was when Lee Majors sang it)
Desiderata - Les Crane (The "National Lampoon" version was much better)
Disco Duck - Rick Dees (Proof that crack existed in the 1970's)
I Touch Myself - The DeVinyls (So did Pee-Wee Herman, but he did not sing about it)
Love Grows Where My Rosemary Goes - Edison Lighthouse (Sounds like CDC needs to be notified)
Sing - Eminem (Reptitve singing over an Aerosmith classic - and no, he can't sing)
Informer - Snow (Yea, a White Canadiaan doing a fast Jamaican Rap, right)
Heartbeat - Don Johnson (Which is exactly how long his singing career lasted)
Ben - Michael Jackson (A love song to a rat - and people claimed they never knew Michael was weird?)
Buddy Holley - Wheezer (so bad even Microsoft had to give it away)
Tell Laura I Love Her - Ray Peterson (Come on and die allready!)

It also grazed the British Top 40...mind you, it was just after her hubby was shot and I'd imagine quite a few people were buying anything remotely connected to Lennon at the time...
