Subject: Sequels they never should have made

Written By: snozberries on 07/30/08 at 6:02 pm

This thread is inspired by the Lost Boys 2 being released on DVD.

I admit I am watching the Two Coreys  :-[  (A pretty bad reality show on A&E or is it Bravo?)  But I don't know if I want to see a sequel to the lost boys.

Also  Beverly Hills Cop 3 really two BHC movies were plenty entertaining thanks.

Superman 3 and 4 (Except for one scene in IV the whole movie is crap)

and since this is my thread I am banning any bashing of Grease II.... if you didn't like the movie you probably already said so in the G2 thread. I LOVE this film and therefore find it to be a valuable sequel.  >:(

Dirty Dancing Havana Nights....now that's another thing entirely.  ;D

Dare I say it, I enjoyed Superman III, lol. I think it was because Richard Pryor was in it.

Good thread this and here are my nominations off the top of my head . . .

Mannequin 2: On the move
Speed II
Anything after the Star Wars trilogy (Star Wars, Empire Strikes Back and Return of the Jedi)
Anything before or after Friday the 13th part VI: Jason Lives
Ghostbusters II
Saw II - IV (so far)
Anything after Halloween I
Splash II
Anything after Dirty Dancing

Jaws 3-D.....The second one was watchable but after that it was just garbage.

Rocky 4..... and any subsequent Rockies.

There have been plenty of bad sequels over the years but one stands out above the rest:

Worst. Sequel. Ever. If only they had stopped at the second one. ::)

I'll give you Richard Pryor in Superman III

I don't know I Friday the 13th VII was my favorite one...it was the sleeping bag against the tree that got me!

Jaws 3-D.....The second one was watchable but after that it was just garbage.

Rocky 4..... and any subsequent Rockies.

AW... I liked Rocky IV.... "I must break you!"  ;)  Plus there's that whole US beats Russia angle

For myself I forgot to mention...

Die Hard 2  (It's the only movie in the franchise I dislike)

Let us not forget the worst sequel ever to a comedy classic:

CADDYSHACK 2

^ I am probably the only person in the world who thought Caddyshack II was better than the original.  I liked 'em both, but the sequel is my all-time favourite sequel of any movie

I agree on all counts, except I'm a fan of the original BWP.  It's main drawback is the college kids are annoying.  I went to see the sequel without reading any reviews.  I didn't realize the original guys had nothing to do with it.

This category is too broad for me because most sequels are extraneous.  The worst ones are the ones that were never intended to be a series, but they're trying to cash in on a blockbuster.

The "Revenge of the Nerds," "Beverly Hills Cop," and "Home Alone" sequels are prime examples.

Franchises such as Freddy and Jason have been jokes for 20 years.  Heck, the "Friday the 13th" series was laughable in 1981!

"Candyman 3: Day of the Dead" is one of the most unwanted sequels I've ever seen. The 2nd movie was interesting, but the 3rd one didn't show any purpose on existing.

Over the years I have never got to see the Psycho sequels, and definitely the remake, I hope to keep it that way.

It's OK, and in some ways reminds me of films like 84 Charlie Mopic.

The Star Wars movies come to mind. The first trilogy is just fine. It doesn't need prequels or sequels. Frankly, "four" franchise films should be the limit in the best of cases.
