It's in New Order "Perfect Kiss" features cowbell in two places.  This is not to be confused with the clanky synth refrain earlier in the song.
c. 5:01-5:17 and then joining the build-up rhythm section at c. 6:29.  That's Bernard Sumner playing.

Loverboy's "Working for the Weekend" actually starts off with a cowbell.  It doesn't get much more awesome than that!

Christopher Walken 2004: "I hear about it everywhere I go. It's been YEARS, and all anybody brings up is 'COW-bell.' I guess you never know what's gonna click."

Christopher Walken 2007: "I was eating in a restaurant in Singapore, and an Asian couple was at the next table, and the guy turned to me and he said, 'Chris, you know what this salad needs?' I said, 'What?' He said, 'More cowbell.'

Great pick!  Sheila E was underrated as a percussionist because of the whole Prince's sex kitten act.  Forget that.  Watch the drumming.  Sheila is actually the daughter of percussionist Pete Escovedo of Azteca fame.

The Roland TR-808 cowbell was fairly common on black music in the '80s and early '90s; nearly as distinctively dated as those big electronic snare drum hits. Oran "Juice" Jones one-hit wonder "The Rain" starts with this sound, for example.

More cowbell...

From 1975,

I think I'll give a listen to "I'm not In Love" while I'm at it, since it's also from 1975 (but there's no cowbell in that one)
