Rather than asking if the Beatles are the greatest band ever, what are your favourite bands (past and/or present) ?

Not John Cougar!
As you know ELP will always be my favorite followed closely by Triumvirat, Jethro Tull, Nektar and Return To Forever.
That was the past favorites. My new favorites are:
Epica
Within Temptation
Nightwish
Lacuna Coil
Sonata Arctica
After Forever
I also like Six Feet Under, Children Of Bodom and Dying Fetus, as you can see my taste is all over the map.

Within Temptation and Nightwish are great bands :)
For older bands, my favourite has to be April Wine and Manic Street Preachers (the latter whom are newer, but they've been releasing songs since the early 90s)
My new favourites are White Lies and Glasvegas.
I've never been one to put newer music above older music, but the 2008 self-tiled debut album by Glasvegas was so fantastic, I ranked it as my favourite album of all time.

My tastes change so fast with music so it's hard to narrow it down, there have been so many! The ones that stick out in my mind are The Beatles, Crystal Castles, The Killers, Radiohead, and The Rolling Stones. I think those are the ones I was interested in the longest.

Two bands from my youth, a little surprising they would make your list. I like Skynyrd but I fell into the Boston trap
like everyone else. I was a Freshman in Highschool when their debut album was released and like everyone else I just
had to have it. I listen to their music now and say, "What the hell was I thinking." It's not that I hate them it is just
that there is so much more that I would rather listen to. To each is own though, I am extremely critical when it
comes to music and I am not easily pleased.
