Good choices for these two. Both singers had plenty of great solo hits.

I also like Sting's "Fields Of Gold" and "If I Ever Lose My Faith In You" (both from his 1993 album Ten Summoner's Tales), "All This Time" (from his 1991 album Soul Cages), and "Fortress Around Your Heart" (1985). :)

Yeah.  I remembered those songs.  I remember when the Police reunited and IMHO it was disastrous.  Sting's ego was way too big for that.

Kenny MacLean (Platinum Blonde) Don't Look Back 1990
Andy Taylor (Duran Duran) Take It Easy 1985

Kenny did remarkably well in his solo career.  He was nominated for a Juno award, which is the Canadian equivalent of a Grammy, and he won a SOCAN award for writing.
It's too bad that Andy's fans, who were also Duran Duran fans, just didn't really care as soon as he went solo.  Then when he reunited with Duran Duran I think is when the people who were fans back in the day started to care.  When he left for the second time the people who were fans back in the day just didn't care again.

"Easy Lover" (duet with Philip Bailey, who also sang in a band...Earth, Wind & Fire)
"Another Day In Paradise"
"Against All Odds (Take A Look At Me Now)"
"Sussudio"

All of these were recorded during the 1980s, while he was still the frontman of Genesis. He was recording both as a member of a band and as a solo artist!

To be fair, I think he has only recorded two or three solo songs throughout his entire career. :P However, on some occasions, he has collaborated with other musicians in their respective releases.

I'm not a massive fan of John Lennon's solo work, but they're not bad songs. "Instant Karma" and "Imagine" would have to be my favourite solo songs of his. Speaking of the song "Woman", the music video for that song is a bit disturbing. In one scene, there is a photo of John Lennon's body in the morgue.  :o Because "Woman" was one of his last solo hits, as you mentioned, the music video was produced by Yoko Ono after his passing. I don't understand why she would want to include the morgue photo into the music video.  >:(
