Subject: Television opening credits that you like

Written By: bookmistress4ever on 10/30/12 at 3:52 am

I don't know exactly what it's called, but the part where they show the opening credits.  What are ones that you like?

Some I especially like are:

The new series "Elementary" starring Johnny Lee Miller and Lucy Liu

I know there was a topic made for this somewhere, but can't find it.  :(

Thanks for finding the message topic, I honestly did look but apparently weren't using the correct search terminology.

Yeah, that one comes to mind...but I can't think of any others at the moment. But over the years I did have a few favorites, until I got tired of 'em.

I guess when  started the topic, I didn't necessarily just mean the music (theme music) but also the actual photos, film (whatever).

I really liked the Rube Goldberg device of Elementary, even though it doesn't really have much to do with the series.

My favourite one ever has to be the short-lived NBC series 'Stingray' starring Nick Mancuso.  To have a catchy theme helps draw in viewers, but to have a visual opening sequence that goes with it is the winning combination.  When the Emmy Awards used to have a category for best TV intro (Outstanding Graphic and Title Design), 'Stingray' won it in 1986

"Addams Family"...with the family gathered in the front room, and a separate scene for each sung line of the theme.

Buffy of course... I love identifying the episodes the various scenes from each season!  8)

I know you said not theme songs but I do love the way Psych occasionally changes up their theme song (and sometimes their opening credits)

they did a Spanish version a couple of years ago (for an episode that took place on the set of a telenovela)

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IHwM6KuIdWc

and here's the boyz II men version

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=R-atnbh-H7E

holy crap... I just found a youtube link for a lot of the different styles of the theme song... unfortunately they don't show the openings but it's freaking hilarious to hear the bollywood, christmas, the Boyz II Men.... they seem to be missing the western version tho :-(
