What are your 5 favorite years for music? Mine would be 1981, 1982, 1983, 1999 and 2012.

1967, 1968, 1969, 1970 and either 1971 or 1978.

1970 - a transitional period, great soul, pop, rock, and jazz music, The Beatles, Jackson 5, Curtis Mayfield, CCR, The Beach Boys, Miles Davis released music I enjoy
1967 - a seminal year, Sgt Pepper and Are You Experienced, psychedelia
1971 - seminal releases by Marvin Gaye, Sly and The Family Stone, Joni Mitchell
1974 - The Court and Spark album by Joni Mitchell alone makes this year important to me, also early disco
2001 - an eclectic year, with music that I like ranging from hip-hop, R&B, metal, french house, europop, vocal trance. Timbaland, Linkin Park, Daft Punk, Kylie Minogue, ect, I quite enjoyed the music of this year when I was living through it as a teenager.

1977 - a year marking the very beginnings of trends that would become prominent in the '80s, I Feel Love, punk
1982(maybe also 1983) - a seminal year for pop, Michael Jackson, Prince, The Police, ect
1966 - a transitional year for psychedelic music, Revolver and Pet Sounds groundbreaking albums in that time period

But I definetly like the 30s-70s, but I can't think of distinct years.
And if I had to pick one year each from 5 different decades it would be looking like this:

I looked up the years my five favorite songs were written. They are placed in chronological order, but not necessarily my order of favoritism:

1970 - Big year for Heavy Metal and Hard Rock, Black Sabbath album came at that time
1982 - Really into New Wave and retro 50s music
1991 - Big Year for Grunge bands
1997 - A Year I first experienced. Got my first Wallflowers album
2005 - So many good albums came out that year, and I will say that was the last BIG year for Rock music
