Subject: Feeling old

Written By: NewUser95 on 04/13/13 at 10:29 pm

I'm 17, so I'm still young enough, but I feel old whenever I'm around middle schoolers and realize that they weren't even alive until about 2000 or 2001. My mind refuses to see anyone born in the two thosands as being older than about 6, so the thought that kids born in 2000 are now turning thirteen really boggles my mind.

Whenever I see that sign in the stores that say, "You can't purchase tobacco unless you were born before this day's date in 1995" I just think," Wow, all '95 babies like me are now turning legal age." I still feel about 13, so the thought of being 18 soon feels weird.

I still feel about 13, so the thought of being 18 soon feels weird.

That sounds quite serious, if you ask me  ;D

Why are you feeling old then, if you feel 13?

Feeling old/young is a state of mind. I just hit a BIG birthday (not going say which one but I'm sure most people around here know-or can guess which one it is). Do I FEEL THAT old? Hell no! But yet, I am proud to say that I have survived this world this far. Remember, no one here gets out alive!

So apparently you have too much time on your hands to scour old posts/thread and copy & paste. Might I suggest that you use your time for more constructive purposes.

No, it's actually an old thread from 2003 that I came across a few months ago. I copied it and changed the years--1995 instead of 1985, etc.

This seemed like a clever idea for some reason, but in retrospect it was kind of stupid and not that funny. So, I'm sorry for posting this.  :-[

Okay you know your getting old when you ask your kid if there's any concert he wants to see over the summer and they give you a list and you've only heard of a couple of bands.

You know you feel old when you wake up every morning stiff and have pains in 6 or 7 different areas of your body (at least), but you don't care too much about it because it's become a daily occurrence.

You strain your shoulder lifting weights when you're 18 and it's all better in three days.  You strain your shoulder lifting weights when you're 43 and nine months later after a full course of physical therapy, it's still not better!

Not that 30 is old, but by then you notice that you're no longer a child.

unless you're over the age of 50.

So, what you are saying is..if someone is over the age of 50, they are old?

You feel old when your baby gets her learner's permit.  Not right at all.

I guess for young people thinking that "50" is old is much the same as the "50+" year old people calling 25 year olds "kids"

I'm still called a  "young whipper-snapper" by people in their 80s and 90s.
It's all relative.

Okay you know your getting old when you ask your kid if there's any concert he wants to see over the summer and they give you a list and you've only heard of a couple of bands.

Following music has nothing to do with getting old. I'm almost 25 and I don't follow music anymore. Not because I feel old, but because:
A) I don't like current music
B) I didn't follow music until I was 15, so in a way I want to live my life the way it was back when I was 13.
C) I think following music is useless, especially with all the info overload nowadays.

That kids born in 2000 are or will be 13 this year.

I can't believe 2000 will be closer to my birth than to today in just a few weeks. :o 8)

But then I realize how much really has changed since then... and it's a lot.

You know you’re getting old when at the breakfast table you hear snap, crackle, pop and you're not eating cereal.

;D
