Subject: First music video(s) you saw?

Written By: bryan adams on 04/26/13 at 2:29 pm

Hi there! Do you remember the first music videos(s) you ever saw? If yes, what were they?
Here are mine:

Diana Ross - Chain Reaction
Dire Straits - Money For Nothing
ELO - So Serious
Madonna - Papa Don't Preach (not sure about that)
Michael Jackson - Billie Jean
Roxette - It Must Have Been Love
Tina Turner - The Best
ZZ Top - Gimme All Your Lovin'

Those are all I remember and because they were the first music videos I ever saw I still love them. :) How do you feel about the earliest music videos you can remember seeing?

Billy Idol "Cradle of Love" and Michael Jackson "Thriller" come to mind.

Thinking back over 30 years...

In the air tonight - Phil Collins
Looking for Clues - Robert Palmer
A Pat Benatar song...

But I think I want to go back even further to the 70s. I remember watching a show about Abba, and I think Abba did their own music videos in the 70s (songs like "Knowing me, knwoing you" or "Take a chance on me") and others.

I'm not really a "music video" kind of guy. I might be the only one here who hasn't seen "Thriller" coz I don't like his songs.

For me that is easy.  Not counting the ones shown on variety shows as a one-time showing (The Beatles did that a lot), it would have to be "That's The Way The Money Goes", by M.

In the early 1980's, HBO usually showed such videos between movies, as a way to kill time.  This was years before MTV would come along and make them really popular.

I still love this song, and have been trying to find an MP3 or CD of it for years.

One of the first music videos I can recall came from 1984 by a Canadian group called The Extras.  It was an all animated video for their song Can't Stand Still.  This song never charted, but the video was well seen on Much Music, our version of MTV (before MTV Canada launched in the 2000s)
