Subject: If a time machine existed, what year would you travel back to?

I would probably time travel back to 2006. That year feels very dated to me. I wish I could go back!!  :-[

1984--attend the Purple Rain premiere.
2009--Take Conrad Murray's phone and break it so he couldn't chat up a whore and let Michael die. I'd grab his tall gangly self and handcuff him to the bedpost. (Be happy, I'm not doing the subhuman any physical harm himself. )

January 2, 2008--This was the day mother took sick the last time, and managed to talk her way out of going ot the hospital for 2 solid weeks, being admitted on January 16. If I could have gotten her to go that very first day, she might still be here.  :\'( She was just as stubborn as me.

Wow, from reading many of your posts, I think you like Conrad Murray as much as I like Michael Jackson.  ;D

For me, I'd go back to the 1940s, even the mid 1930s....might even go back as far as the 1880s. To a time when life was more simple, less hectic, less dependent on any technology, when people trusted their neighbors, when everyone is a small town knew who everyone else was.

it's only because you're from Canada that I'm gonna let that remark about simpler times slide  ;)

I'd like to go back to the 1930s, around the time of the golden age of cinema. (So I could chase after George Brent)

Then I realize I am BLACK and live in Texas, and if go back, I might not be able to come back to the present. I don't want to decorate any trees.  :(  :\'(

Also, I wish I could change my father's first memory. When my father was only 4 years old--in 1931--he saw a boy in his teens get beaten to death by the police.

Hm, let me think ::)

Probably any year before 1980, which is the year I was born. Just to see what everything was like. But, if a time machine did exist I would surely go back to 2005, 2006, 2007 and 2008. Only to relive some really great moments in my life. Also, I would go back to 1988...to change one moment and undo something that I did. *sigh* If only it were possible.

Then I would fast forward to 2013 again, because there are too many wonderful things I have happening in the present.

If I could affect change (for the good) I would like to travel to specific points in time... ya know: Germany in the 1930s (Hey you.... don't put on that yellow star!!!) or The Lorraine Hotel in 1968 (Dr King...STAY IN THE ROOM)  or Dallas 1963 (Yo... Kennedy...let's try an alternate route)  or 9/11 ---- um.... let's not let these 19 dudes on these planes. etc  but that's even less plausible than the idea of a time machine itself....

If it were just for self gratification I would go to Hollywood like dates... I would've loved to have been in the audience for various shows in the past, there are some Paley Events that I really wish I'd attended.

If it were self improvement I'd go back to JR high and tell myself to try harder at math... or Freshman year of HS and tell myself to not waste the freaking 4yrs I have here, go to college sooner and get to LA so you can actually work in the industry you love so much!

If I had to go back deep in history, probably the three places I'd love to visit most are Ming Dynasty China, Feudal Japan, and Renaissance Italy.

If it were for self improvement, I'd probably go back to the start of my sophemore year and redo things from there. Overall my high school years were great, but would've been even better if I had pushed myself harder and taken more opportunity. That way I would actually be at a nice university right now and not living with my parents with no job like I am now.

It would be great to go back in time and change history. But then you get into the problem of paradoxes.  :-\\

are there pictures...  :D

I would have to ask My Mother if she can find the photo, it is clearly visible, I don't know what the hell happened but as My Mother was doing some painting, I took a a pair of small scissors and snipped my bangs off, It took a long time to grow back. That's why I hated my late 70's class pictures, It was so embarrassing.  :-[

everything I ever learned about paradoxes and string theory I learned from Quantum Leap  ;D

yeah I worry about that too...plus, in reality, how easy is it to get to people in the front line making the history...and if you succeeded at getting to them you'd have to convince them that you are not a kook....

closest I think I'd ever get is like showing up to when hitler or charles manson was born and kidnapping them... I don't know that could kill an infant....even one destined for evil... so I'd just have to figure something out that would benefit the world...

I'm sure it was embarrassing at 5 but now it should just be a funny tale you tell....no need for embarrassment...we all did dumb things like that when we were little...

one of my favorite eps of Leave it to Beaver is the haircut one...  ;D  I'm sure you didn't look that bad!

because you were little....

when I was 7 I set fire to a Q tip...it was one of those with the plastic blue stick (instead of the normal white one)  I thought that when the fire got to the blue part it would glow a pretty blue color...instead it melted and dropped a flaming cottonball on my leg.... I still have the burn scar.... I was also lucky I didn't burn down the house (because I had locked myself in the closet because it was dark in there...

When I was about 6 in 1995, I laundered my mom's work papers all over the living room!! Luckily for her, I didn't think of ripping them up. Aahh, childhood!

I almost set the house ablaze once. I turned on the burner on the stove, and threw a towel on it, because i thought it would snother out the flame. Instead the towel lit up and i had to put it out quickly. If I'mright the burned evidence is still behindthe living room couch.  ;)

My dad was quite the record collector back in the day.... One day he came to find my 3yr old ass sitting on an lip spinning on the floor like it was a merry go round. Record? Ruined? Dad pissed...apparently I didn't look as precious as it sounds lol

I'd like to spend ONE day in the Post-Civil War Victorian era, to see just how small I can get my waistline reduced in a corset.
I doubt I could get to the 17-inch Scarlett waist without ribs cracking, but I'd like to try!

I know but if you were too young to know how to write maybe all those scribbles were young howard trying to write... I know a lot of little kids who scribble stuff and think they are writing and when I ask them what they are doing they say writing a story... they "read" it to me too  ;D

I want to go back about 30 minutes into the past so I could have avoided this argument I'm having with my friend Jenn about that guy from Duck Dynasty. I personally don't CARE, but she is like a second from going and picketing and chaining her ass to the door of A and E headquarters.  ::)

I want to go back to 1968, Little League Championship game. I made a crucial error at shortstop that allowed the game to be tied. We did not lose but the tie helped our opponent a share of 1st place with us. I'd like to replay that game and make the play and win it all!

Yea, this topic is a bit more intriguing than we’ve really thought about…at least to me it is.

I’d pick 1992, I was young, halfway through college, cool car, really good music, smoking hot girlfriend,  smoking ((!) not cigarettes), decent $ in my pocket (well for a 21 yr old in college).  Sex, drugs and rock n’ roll… 8) :)

Great time to be alive, but…not sure if I should or should want to go through it again.  Not sure if I’d survive it.

Did some pretty dumb things (and got away with it, or didn’t suffer too much for my stupidity), and I would probably now, change a few things that I did, which would mean I’d miss meeting a lot of people I’m with now…learned a lot about myself from those years.

One thing I learned, you CAN’T go back. So enjoy it NOW.  :-X
