Subject: Jim Steinman

Any Jim Steinman fans out there? Sure a lot of his songs sound alike but I like his sound.

What are some of your favorites? I'll list mine later.

When I think of Jim Steinman, the first thing that pops into my head is Meat Loaf's "Bat out of Hell" back in 1977.  It was such a great album and I think he wrote all the songs on there.

The second one that pops into my head is "Total Eclipse of the Heart", which for me was one of the best songs that year.

Yeah, I know lots of his songs sound the same, but you can also say that for many other bands/artists.

Meatloaf's Bat Out of Hell album was OUTSTANDING!!!! His Back In Hell album was good, too but not as good as the first-IMO.

Other songs I Love:

Holding Out For A Hero-Bonnie Tyler
Totally Eclipse of the Heart-Bonnie Tyler

And THIS one:

"Total Eclipse," and (do I have to say it in front of everybody?), "Making Love Out of Nothing At All."

Fire Inc - Tonight is What it Means to Be Young

Streets of Fire is my favourite movie ever, and this song definately gets my vote.  It also made an appearance in the US Hot 100.  Also from that film, Fire Inc. had another single (that never became a hit) called Nowhere Fast which I also love!

That same year (1984), Meat Loaf also recorded a version and took it into the UK chart.  His version was OK, but I like Fire Inc better

As an artist under his own name, Steinman had a Top 40 hit in 1981 called Rock and Roll Dreams Come Through featuring vocals by Canadian singer Rory Dodd.  This song is just fantastic!

Steinman also wrote the theme song to the short-lived 1979 TV series Delta House (based on National Lampoon's Animal House).  Though the show was not a hit, the song is memorable because parts of it were later re-worked into the 1981 hit Dead Ringer for Love by Meat Loaf and Cher as well as the 1984 hit Tonight is What it Means to Be Young as seen above.

Yes, this is another wonderful one.
And Rory sang the male part in "Total eclipse Of The heart" as well.

A lot of Jim's songs are very powerful-which is one of the reasons why I like it so much.

I LOVE this one-which brings me right back to high school:
