Subject: British Soul

Written By: Howard on 03/27/14 at 7:21 am

I was just thinking about this the other day that there should be a topic called "British Soul" where back in the days there were black artists or groups that had come from London and The U.K. and they had hits in the 1970's & 1980's so let's start it off:

Why was that some black UK artists never wanted to tour New York? What were they afraid of? ???

I remember Five Star had toured The U.S. from what I read about two times.

Beggar & Co. never toured The U.S. it's probably because nobody in The U.S know who they are except for the ones who do know who they are.

The Real Thing only toured The U.K.

But if nobody in the US knows who they are, then how can there be people who know who they are? :D

That song you posted by them was one of only two songs that saw the UK Top 40, so there may be alot of Britons who may not know them by name, but probably to hear the songs, they know that

I'm just saying in The UK, Britain and London know who they are, some Americans know who Five Star are cause they grew up listening to them on the radio but others in America have no clue who Beggar and Co are or The Real Thing cause they're used to touring The UK.

Also from Romford was 80s soul legend Billy Ocean! He had huge success on both sides of the Atlantic.
