Subject: what's the name of that toy....

Written By: snozberries on 06/08/14 at 7:55 pm

Okay I put this in more than a decade because I know it spanned more than 10 yrs... I remember seeing it in the 70s but also the 80s...and maybe the 90s...

it was a balloon/ball made of a putty like substance that you blew up with a straw... it came in a tube...  looked kind of Tye Dye-ish....

y'all know what I'm talking about...anyone remember what it was called???

Nailed it!

From Wham-O, the folks who brought you the Frisbee, although I still have no idea what they had to do with each other.

Super Elastic Bubble Plastic is basically PVA (polyvinyl acetate) and acetone, with ethyl acetate as a plasticizer, plus some funky colors.  When the acetone evaporates, the bubbles remain.  It's probably unwise to inhale from the straw, which is why it was pulled from the market.  Fun from the age before chemophobia.  (Source: Chemistry in the Toy Store, Part II

Your description was very clear and to the point, that helped.
And yeah, I used to play with that.
WHAM-O had some good stuff back then.
