Subject: Who do you consider to be part of your "personal" generation?

Written By: Tyrannosaurus Rex on 02/07/17 at 2:26 pm

This is not a thread where you define where X, Y, Z, etc are (all they do is start flame wars and nonsense, no wonder why so many of them ultimately get locked on here). This is just a thread on who do you consider to be part of your personal generation.

Bearing in mind that I was born in 1999, I consider anyone born between the mid 90's and early 00's as a part of my personal generation.

1996-2001. At a stretch, maybe 1995.

Mostly 1996-2001 babies. Although, I mostly hang out with 1998, 1999, and 2000 babies.

Generally speaking those born from 1992-2000 share similar experiences with me.

My 'Main' People are those born from 1994-1998 give or take.

Most of my main group of friends were born from Late 1993-Early 1997

You guys are all so young.  :P  ;D I was born in '87, I'd say people born within around 5 years either way are pretty close to my age (so born c. 1982-1992). Then there's people 6-10 years older/younger that are kind of close but a bit more different (born c. 1977-1997). Over 10 years younger and older is quite a bit. I'm just getting adjusted to 1999 born people becoming very young adults, as I remember that year very well. At least it's not as crazy as 2005 will be I guess, that'll be one hell of a trip when they turn 18.  ;D Geez that's actually not that far off...

I'm turning 24 in a week, so I'm not far away from the centre of the 18-29 demographic, so that sounds about right for a personal generation. People in their early 30s and onwards, it depends. Some people are chill, the people I get along with best at work are 30 and 32. Others, though. take themselves very seriously. I'm the anti-hierarchical and "Casual Fridays? Why not Casual Mondays to Fridays?"-type millennial that the Boomers in the business magazines keep complaining about ;D

On my birthday, millions of children dying from famine get FREE meat and rice, candy, and there are huge parades throughout the country. Can any other day of the year compete?

I was born in 1991 and I think I'd consider 1987-1995 to be 'my generation'.

But if we're talking overall, then those born from 1988-2000!

For me, being born in December 1997 and in the C/O 2016, I'd say my "generation" would consist of those born in Late 1992 - Early 2003, so about C/O 2011 - C/O 2021.
Roughly a 5 year difference either way.

I'd say that those 0-5 years younger or older than you are your generation.
Those 6-11 years younger or older than you are a semi-generation divide, because 6 years is halfway through the Chinese Zodiac.
12 years or more is a generation divide, because 12 years repeats a Chinese Zodiac sign.

I would personally consider the high school classes that I attended/will attend high school with as my "personal" generation. So late 1998-mid 2005 borns (C/O 2017-C/O 2023)
