Subject: Fictional character crushes

Written By: YuYuYuuki on 02/27/17 at 5:34 pm

Did you have a crush on a fictional character as a kid?
I had a crush on Swayzak from Toonami for the longest time. The Trapped in Hyperspace event aired when I was 6 in first grade, and I remember grabbing ALL the images of him I could from the then-young internet, mostly Toonami.com and Toonami Digital Arsenal. He was my first ever crush and I always hoped one day he'd reappear, and then one Saturday in April 2004 I got my wish, SARA was reviewing Rez (a game I had played before) and she mentioned something which led to Swayzak appearing on the screen laughing! I was 8 then and I actually squealed!
I grew out of my crush when I was 11 or 12 (2007 or 2008) and to this day I have no idea why I had a crush on him. I do know that I had this crush for 6 or 7 years.

Who did you have a crush on?

Some fictional characters just really make you wish they existed. At the time, Misty from Pokémon really took me home. Her personally is serious. If not the only, the most realistic character from the show.

I don't have any fictional character crushes, but I do have A LOT of celebrity crushes (actresses & sportswomen) and let me tell you it's a long ass list so I'm not going to mention them here today, but maybe tomorrow.

During my preteen years I do remember finding certain cartoon and video game characters to be appealing, buuuutttt I'm too embarrassed to make a list of them all.

I was too busy lusting over my gym teacher, who was human, to have a crush on any cartoon! Plus, it wasn't
technically a crush, but my own human lust. :.ducks:.

Its the art style that's throwing everyone off. Actually, you can run into better versions of already existing characters recreated by fans. Better than the creators original look of them even.

I would, but most fanart nowadays are usually present on Deviantart. I know it seems too much, but I don't wanna go to that site often for various reasons. One of them is that there is too much people who post sickening things, which turn a lot of people off.

I believe that most of the times minorities can't be racist against white people, 85-90% of the time, but I believe there are exceptions. Like if 4 Asian people
stabbed a white kid, or if they beat him up, even if the kid didn't die. It's hard for me to just call that prejudice, it's obviously HATE based on someone's race.

Yes, I believe there is some kind of white supremacy, but there are exceptions and few times where hate against a white person can't just be called prejudice.

I'm just expressing my thoughts. I know you're just joking, though.  ;)

Not trying to turn a funny little thread on fictional crushes into a depressing converse on racism, but racism was originally a system put in place for whites to have power to oppress minorities. A minority CAN be prejudice, but not racist in the original sense. A majority of people within the US are white and a majority of people within power that influence the system are white. The stupidity of White sepremacy is what caused this. When people say that someone is being racists they really mean prejudice. Although nowadays it feels like people are throwing the words "racism", "offensive", and "prejudice" every chance they get no matter whether or not they have a justifiable reason.

But to quickly escape from this depressing matter I'll move on.

You can name one.

Eh, I suppose it wouldn't hurt too much. Not sure how many of you played Crash Bandicoot during the late '90s/early '00s on PS1/PS2, but I always did have an interest in Crash's Sister Coco Bandicoot. Sickening, right?  :( I was about 8 to maybe 11 until I finally got over this crazy interest. Now in my 20s I fail to understand how one could find characters with old Ps1 or Ps2 graphics to be appealing. But hey I was a kid.

Nowadays if I have a fictional crush it'd be for a mature human female not a young animal girl. Hmmm....  although there was the Crash N Sane Trilogy collection being made for Ps4 which is a remake of the Ps1 games, but with 8th gen graphics. Hopefully seeing Coco Bandicoot with a modern update doesn't mess me up too bad. I'm scared bro.... :(

If an Asian, or black person, beats up a white person, if it's not racist, it's at least hateful. But in my eyes it's racist. Prejudice is like saying that white people have big noses. That's prejudice. But killing, or beating up a white person, that's racist. Just look it up in the dictionary, any dictionary.

It doesn't matter where racism originated, racism is racism. And don't forget, I said 90% of the time minorities can't be racist against whites.
I'm just saying that once something escalates into violence, or death, that something just can't be called prejudice. I know my opinion isn't popular, but it's just
my opinion.

It doesn't matter if it originated from white, rainbow, black, or yellow, people. Racism is racism. Prejudice is prejudice.

A lot of anime fans do their fanart quite well on DA. Weeaboos tend to hang out at the site in the 2000s, but they stopped after rabid cartoon fanboys started to hit the scene around 2013.

Right now I like the actor who plays Amaya Jiwe from Legends of Tomorrow, and you can't resist Emma Stone.

I was a kid. The characters I liked didn't have to be human to be attracting to me. As an adult I prefer for them to be human, but as a kid since most of my favorite characters were non-human/animals I bother me if the characters I found appealing weren't human.  This was during the 1990s-mid 2000s where nearly all characters made for kids were animals. Everyone was unaware that they were furries.  :o

Also if you thought Donkey Kong 64 was bad with its portrayal of female animals don't get me started on Conker's Bad Fur Day.

It's all fine as long as it's kept at low-key.  ;) On the internet anything and everything can be loved it seems. Which is why websites like Deviantart (and r34  :-X) exists. Some people even end up falling in love with a random Deviant artists on original character. And what's even funnier is when some artists fall in love with their own characters. It's all quite interesting actually.

Well... it's not really all loved by the Internet. Hell, there was (and still is) a lot of people on the Internet who detest against Deviantart for its furry art material. Although I could that Furaffinity and Inkbunny (both furry sites) have more furry R34 material than DA, it's the more controversial one on the Internet.

A lot of cartoon characters since the 1990s were made as animals. Hell, I could name more cartoon characters that I grew up with than those who were actually human.

Well the decades where animal characters were extremely popular were the late 1920s to 1950s. Mainly since animal characters ruled cartoons and comics during those times. By the 1960s to 1980s they lost in populatity (outside of Disney animations) as human characters were the stars again. BUT during the late 1980s thanks to Who Framed Roger Rabbit and it reminding everyone of the golden days of animation (Late 1920s to 1950s) animal characters started popping up again. Now with movies like Zootopia we're starting to see the next resurgence of animal characters. And queue in the fictional crushes. People are already having a thing for Judy Hopps.  :-X

Didn't they intentionally do that, so they could show it's M-rated?

Yeah, what I was getting at was in DK64 it was mainly done as a little joke. But everything about Conker was a joke. From it's humor and music to its parodies of movies. If Candy Kong was  a little joke then what would happen if you got that joke and and made it into a full game? Conker's Bad Fur Day is the result.  8)

Sadly we'll never get another game like Conker. Heck, even the creator said that he probably wouldn't want to make another game like Conker. He's happy about the game, but he said that Conker was just the result of the things he found cool and funny during the early '00s. But in the 2010s his tastes and interests have changed.  :\'( Conker is very much a product of its time now.

As a kid I was obsessed with comics, cartoons, and games. I did mention my crush for Coco Bandicoot back when I was still in elementary school.  During the times I was a kid making attractive looking cartoon characters were a common trend back then. To name a few more without going into detail I'd say Daisy Duck (House of Mouse), Roxanne (Goof Troop), Joanna Darc (Perfect Dark), Chun Li (Street Fighter). To name a few modern ones I actually do find the new Lara Croft (I repeat the NEW one. Not that old one) to be good looking.

I'll be honest I've never really had cartoon crushes as a kid. I've had quite a few celebrity crushes as a kid though: Hilary Duff (the biggest one, kissed a a poster of her multiple times daily :-[), Ciara (got made fun of A LOT during the time because it was the same time as when the rumours that she was a man started, which I had no idea about and thought was dumb), Paris Hilton, then as an older kid to early teen Megan Fox. And a bunch more. A lot of these are very embarrassing.  :-[

I forgot about Coco. I thought she was cute, but it didn't turn into a addictive crush. I can say the same for that robot chick from Terminator 3 and Gogo Yubari from Kill Bill. I didn't have addictive crushes for them, but the attraction was there.

I wouldn't call it an addictive crush as I don't think I had posters, drawings, or merchandise of the characters, or had the characters constantly on my mind, but I did find the characters attractive at the time.

I know what you meant. I meant addictive crush as in when you constantly think about the character.

I know all except for the lady in read. Although to be fair by the time I have became a aware of these charcaters I was over the idea of fictional crushes. But I'm not gonna lie when I say that you made some decent choices on who you like. The characters you like actually seem like realistic people (some ARE realistic people while Vixen and Spider Gwen are not). Much better than the kiddy animal characters I ended up liking. You were probably one of them kids who were mature for their age.

Lady in red you mean? Which one are you talking about? Actually, ALL of these characters are drawn versions of realistic characters. I just did this on purpose just to fool and tease all of you. I had cartoon character crushes when I was early in elementary school, but I find it weird now. Since mid to late elementary school I've only had crushes with live-action characters, celebrities, or sportswomen. Can you guess who Vixen or Spider Gwen are?

Spider Gwen and Vixen are familar to me due to being a DC fan and watching Justice League and I know of Spider Gwen from the comic that released back in 2015, I think. And yeah I meant "red" not "read". I'm one of those people who don't proof read and correct mistakes.  For me I've had cartoon crushes throught all of elementary. I only moved away when I got into middle school. I think one of the reasons for this is because I actually got myself a real girlfriend at the time of age 12/13. The relationship only lasted a few months as we went to different schools later on, but the experience did help me move away from liking cartoon characters. And I'm am ok with that.

When I walk around the college, real life girls blow me away. Its as if its somehow been so long. But, I honestly go to fictional characters when I'm depressed. I can fantasize about real life girls that appeal to me. Done it a few times but, sometimes I feel like a jerk because its using their image. At least you can do is have the permission slip.

Why bother going for a real girl who will most likely reject you when you can go for non-existent cartoon characters and real life celebrities who don't even know you exist?  :-\\

My jokey cynical/pessimism aside I'm sure a huge majority of the population had fictional crushes/celebrity crushes. It's just a human thing. Not something to be ashamed as (unless it's lolicon as I do not  pedophilia). I always find it funny how when as a kid we all had to hide our crushes from our friends (whether they were real life, celebrity related, or fictional) when in reality everyone we knew all had the same situation. A younger bro of mine was into literally EVERY female Pokemon character growing up. It's quite interesting since as he got older a new female would usually came into the Pokemon series and the reasons he'd like that female would change. With Misty it was kiddy stuff like "she looked pretty" with later females it was things like their personality. And then he eventually stopped liking them when we realized he was getting older and the characters never aged past 10 years old. It's all funny in hindsight and not something to really be ashamed for.

Even though it's highly unlikely, at least with celebrities or actresses it's possible meet them one day and get their autograph at a special event that could be going on near where you live or if you're lucky to live near where the actresses or celebrities shoot regularly. Plus you always have concerts as well for your favorite artists which for me wouldn't be too hard since Phillips Arena isn't that far from where I live. There's been comic con events at Atlanta too or many other big city locations and maybe if you're lucky enough you might get to see one of your favorite actresses over there. Fictional characters on the other hand are just our imaginations. I just think it feels much better when you know somebody is real.

The late 00's and early 10's was her peak though. Although she turns 42 this year and she's still fine IMO, although I think it's shifted to Emma Stone as the hottest redhead actress the last few years. When I was in high school it was Christina Hendricks who was the hottest actress with red hair. It would had been great to have Joan Holloway as your bitchy teacher lmao.

I strangely found any Saiyan in DBZ hot whenever they screamed. I had to be around 8 years old, when Toonami was airing the last few episodes.

Nah, I kid. I've seen a ton of other people who like her. From what I can gather people don't care whether or not she is a robot. Rather people just like her character/personality as it's what makes her an appealing character.

She was one of those characters who was tough and powerful, but cute and vulnerable at the same time.

As a kid, when you see the way the townspeople and the world at large treats her poorly, you just wanna reach out and help her.

I met a beautiful woman a couple months and a half ago, with whom I finally seemed to share a mutual companionship with. She was so fun and comforting to talk to, I thought surely something positive had to come out of knowing her. However, she disappeared on me three weeks ago, not getting back to my messages and leaving me in painful suspense. Earlier today, I discovered that she's apparently in a relationship with another person.

Needless to say, I'm allowing my inner diva to run amok. I'm used to never having any control or purpose over anything.

That's horrible. I'm sorry that happened. :-\\ She should of been upfront, instead of disappearing on you. Just another coward that needs to think about others and realize that it would of ended better for everyone if she was more tactful. People like that who would rather hide and don't have the guts to be forward about their feelings or have any respect for you aren't worth your time at all.

It's a shame, she told me she was also an old soul, just like me. Instead, she was just as conniving and insincere as all the other 2010s stereotypes I've met and failed miserably with.

Definitely sounds like it. Selfish, too. What kind of person does that sh!t? Honestly, she was probably thinking to herself about how "scary" the confrontation would be rather than how you would feel if she just ran off like that and now it's been turned into something even more upsetting because she's too immature to deal with situations like a proper adult. She needs to understand you just can't play around with people's emotions like that!

I'm going to get the thread back to its original topic (hope you're feeling better Infinity!).

Two other characters i remember liking when I was younger were Ami Onuki and Yumi Yoshimura (animated versions). They were cute and they had nice personalities and made awesome music, even though the show they starred in was otherwise rather terrible and generic. :(

I also liked the Dark Magician Girl from Yu Gi Oh. Then again I think most kids growing up around 2001-2006 liked her, and it seems the creators intended her to be that way. Because in the TV show, every male character falls over for her (except Jaden). :P

I remember reading an article few years back and it argued a great point. Seeing as our capitalist system forces workers to use their labour just to simply survive, it's wrong to say that an actress (whether filmography or pornography) who's being paid for her work can give true consent, and that all works of fiction actually depict non-consenting adults, by definition (despite the disclaimer).

Anime and hentai work around this beautifully. There is no actual real sex or sexual services involved in production, therefore there is no real sexual exploitation. This uniquely makes anime and hentai a progressive outlet in satisfying both men and women's sexual needs, and we need to more work in promoting it. A true feminist would not watch movies with beautiful people or pornography depicting real people. Indeed, in a truly enlightened culture, everything would need to be animated to ensure that no one could ever possibly be sexually exploited and that all acts and services with any sexual connotation are performed entirely with true consent.

It sounds twisted, but some people do like working in the porn business. I get what the article is getting at, but if a woman wants to do porn, wouldn't banning her from doing porn be ripping a woman's right to go into a business, or into a career? If a person believes a woman have the right for free/pro choice with abortion, why can't they have free choice with what career that they want, even if it's porn? Feminism is all about woman having power, and rights. Don't deny them this right!

Also, some have long careers in pornography. I'm not sure what's considered 'long' in the porn industry, but I wouldn't be surprised if there are some that have been at it for 15-20 years. Even if a woman, or man, doesn't want to have sex with someone they're working with (porn), they knew the consequences of being in porn, yes? Not all people that go into porn (I'm assuming by common sense) were/are poor, homeless, molested, etc, etc, etc.

I wouldn't be surprised if it's other women who judge harshly a woman in porn. And yes, this is where I agree with the feminists/SJWs/anti-racists, straight men who do call women sl*ts and wh*res. Straight men are still very judgmental of a woman's sexuality.

As for just actors and actresses in regular films. Are some actresses and actors required to do a nude scene for a contract? Part of a contract? For some films? This, I don't know. At least with porn, you know there's real sex, it's blatant and obvious. It's also straightforward.  ;D

With the movie industry, it's shadier and more grey areas. :(

I was mostly joking! ;D But to play devil's advocate...

The argument is that it isn't a free choice. Because we live in a capitalist society where men earn the lion's share of the income, it's only logical that women would have to sell their bodies to these men in order to earn a living income for survival. In that sense, it's not truly 100% consensual. The only way to find out if a woman really wanted to do it, is if she would do it for free. No? Then removing all other incentives, the woman doesn't really want sex, it's only the capitalist system that's forcing her. This is not true consensual sex.

Some women can be working in the sex industry for a long time, but I'm sure if the price of sex work dropped to zero, many would stop working.

In reality, I'm more sex-positive and don't see voluntarily choosing to work in the porn industry as exploitation. Not anymore than voluntarily working at McDonald's is exploitation.  :o

Oh yeah I agree. If sex/nudity is part of a movie, it should be explicitly stated before the actress applies. Can you imagine getting the part of museum tour guide or something innocuous, and then being told to strip and make out with an ugly guy? No thanks ;D

The sad thing about those alt-righters/MRAs/red pillers insulting women for being so 'slutty' is that this discourages women from having sex... and then later, they complain they don't get any even though they're such "nice guys"  ???

Yoshi has the best stats on Mario Kart 64 & DS.
Oh yeah he does. I even picked him first when I got the first two Super Smash Bros, and Mario Tennis.

Here's the lineup for my latest crushes, and I don't care who gets pissed off on this thread.

And I'm with your photos. They are definitely gorgeous. There's a lot that I have, but it would be too much to post.

The part in bold.
Nice!! For me though, YoshI has been my favorite character throughout the Mario series. I would always pick him over the others.

I like Yoshi on Super Mario World or New Super Mario Bros. Wii, but I don't like him on Yoshi's Island DS. Maybe because the difficulty of Yoshi's Island DS was too much for me? I mean I could argue that game was harder than Super Mario Bros 2 Japan/Lost Levels. Not sure about the other Yoshi's Island games though. FR tho.

It was the same thing with me too. I actually had that game, and I got stuck on a level which made me give up on it. The other YoshI Island games, no I passed them all the for ones I had including the first one AKA Super Mario World 2.

She was plants on Sky High, fire as a guest star on Grimm, and now ice on the Flash. 2 of the 3 she played are villains. I had the ice themed version on my banner. (who is a villain named Killer Frost)

Yoshi's Island DS only had 5 worlds, and for a game part of the Mario universe you'd think that be easy, but hell no that's not the case with the format of Yoshi's Island DS. Each of the levels were so long, you had to collect multiple egg coins and alternate exits to find secrets. I remember the controls being so confusing on the DS trying to aim the egg where you needed to shoot, and I hated that Chain Chomp level on world 5 when you had to run away from him and avoid all the pits you could fall in. It was hard af, and then when the baby comes off you have to grab him or her out of the bubble so many times. It was so damn frustrating.

I remember Spongebob (pre-movie version) having a thing with the ladies, the girls at school liked him. He was goofy, but somehow cool at the same time. Unlike the post-movie version who is just annoying.

The first character who's voice I considered sexy was Velo from Crash Nitro Kart. I was 7 when I got the game, and I wondered why his voice sounded like that when he looked so ugly. I used to imagine him as a human alien form in the style of Yu Yu Hakusho. And then I found out his voice actor also voiced TOM.

Mai Shiranui, the breast bouncing character you see in my signature.  She is from the fantastic video game series 'The King of Fighters'.  In live action, she was beautifully played by Maggie Q in the very awful film adaptation of the game.

As bad as that movie is, it sits in my collection because I am such a fan of the game series, I have to own it.

Funnily enough, a lot of my (animated) crushes were coincidentially redheads:
- Frankie Foster from Foster's Home of Imaginary Friends
- Gwen Tennyson in Ben 10 up to Ultimate Alien
- Bloom and maybe Tecna from Winx Club
- MK from the film Epic
- Tallulah from Meet the Robinsons
Some exceptions:
- Ahsoka Tano from Star Wars: The Clone Wars (IDK)
- BB from Freefonix (IDK)
- Stella from Winx Club (blonde)
- Shadowcat and Rogue in any X-Men animated series (brunettes)
- Susan Storm from Fantastic 4: World's Greatest Heroes (blonde)
Live action:
- Same X-Men in the X-Men films (not First Class, screw that retro crap! :p)
- Rachel and Monica from Friends
- Rose Tyler and Martha Jones from Doctor Who

Man, I was obsessed with girls. Still kind of am to this day.

I'm not gay but I could see why. He was cool and awesome in the old games, including Sonic Adventure and Sonic Adventure 2 when he had some slick theme songs (Pumpkin Hill, death chamber). However, later games ruined him by making him into more of an angry idiot instead of smart and mature.

I felt all weird in my lower regions when Shadow spoke. That darn accent! Oh, I'm breaking out into a hot sweat just thinking about it! Sonic Adventure 2 was one of the last games me and my neighbor Elizabeth bonded over, and Shadow was the reason why I actually even played the game.

I watched a lot of cartoons...

I crushed on Creepie from Growing Up Creepie, Brandy from Brandy and Mister Whiskers, Gwen from Total Drama, Jenny from My Life as a Teenage Robot (though she was brought up earlier...), Frankie from Foster's Home for Imaginary Friends and Cleo from Tutenstein, as far as I can remember...I didn't have many crushes on male characters, most weren't too interesting AND attractive at the same time...

I also crushed on the main characters of Totally Spies! and Monster High, but I don't remember those shows well tbh. <opo>

Also remember this is the internet-you are going to come across offensive things from time to time. Please just scroll on if you find something that you don't like. But if you do find something that you feel is over the line, please report the post so a mod can look at it.

Thanks

I have a vague memory of crushing on Metal Sonic... for some reason... before Knuckles. I don't know if this was 93 when Sonic CD came out or 95 when I read the comic he was in. I remember him speaking, so definitely 95. When I watched the anime movie in 5th grade and he spoke at the end, it happened again...

Some fictional characters just really make you wish they existed. At the time, Misty from Pokémon really took me home. Her personally is serious. If not the only, the most realistic character from the show.

for some reason Tom the cyborg astronaut on your profile is making me crack up hahahaaha toonami went downhill IMO

also anyway yuuki did say she liked Shadow right? in fact her crush on the virus ended in 2005 to make room for Shadow. yeah because the commercial for that game was airing a lot on nick and disney and that voice was unlike anything she had heard before (she thought shadow was the narrator too) i remember her calling me and freakin out once she got the game "SHADOW'S BEIN BADASS" and i could hear the crush 40 intro song blasted from her stereo at a sonic boom (no pun intended) level reminded me of when i first saw Shadow in 2001 (I ACTUALLY HAD TO STAY HOME FROM SCHOOL SICK FOR A FEW DAYS BECAUSE I KEPT THROWING UP OVER HOW HOT HE AND HIS VA WAS) she got the dark ending where shadow blows up the earth and she would always tell me it made her feel weird down there especially shadow's laugh hahahaha I came over for xmas 2005 and i remember the playlist she'd put on while playing; chicken little soundtrack, spice girls albums, and an india.arie album
