When it comes to music genres, country and rap are perceived as polar opposites. You either like one and hate the other, or hate both. But liking them both is completely unheard of.

When it comes to the 21st Century releases for both of these genres, I tend to hate them both, no offense if you like the new country and/or rap.
However, for the 20th Century releases for both of these genres, I tend to love them both.
For me, I tend to enjoy country music from about the mid 1950s to mid 1990s, from the era of Johnny Cash to the era of Garth Brooks, with a few exceptions afterwards. Once you had cheesy pop country artists like Tim McGraw, Faith Hill, Shania Twain, Kenny Chesney, and the Dixie Chicks become popular is when the genre went downhill for me, and today's bro-country is complete garbage.
As for rap, 1988-1997 was definitely the golden age of rap music, mostly in my opinion but I also think it was also objectively the best period for the genre. Starting with NWA's "Straight Outta Compton" all the way to Notorious BIG's "Life After Death". Afterwards it was okay, Eminem was great, but then once you had crunk, ringtone hip hop, and later on electrorap and boring cliche freestyle hip hop, it was all garbage to me.
My favorite rap artist is 2Pac, and my favorite country artist is Johnny Cash.

Anyways, I do feel like country and rap do have way more in common with each other than people think.
A lot of rap songs are about thug life, so are many country songs. Johnny Cash, Merle Haggard, and Willie Nelson especially have a lot of songs that glorify the outlaw life, all three of them have served jail sentences before, and Johnny Cash even has a song with the lyircs "I shot a man in Reno just to watch him die". It's not too different from the lyrical content of 2Pac, Notorious BIG, or Eazy-E, just without N-words.
Plus, Willie Nelson is a pot-smoker, and friends with and even made a song with Snoop Dogg.

Also, there are a few remixed songs that mashup 2Pac, Eazy-E, or Eminem with Johnny Cash, and they sound great;

I do like certain songs of either genre. Country, particularly if it crosses over into pop (such as Johnny Cash). Rap, if it's clean and from no later than the mid90's.

Actually, there's a lot of amazing new country music being put out there, it's just that the good stuff is being put out outside the Nashville  establishment and most of it never gets played on mainstream country radio. I subscribe to SiriusXM satellite radio and one of my favorite stations on there is Outlaw Country (Channel 60), where I've discovered great new artists and groups like Sturgill Simpson, Whitey Morgan and the 78's, Hank 3 (Hank Williams' grandson), Jason Isbell (who used to be in the Drive-By Truckers), and many others I can't think of offhand.

Perhaps the most successful of this new wave of country artists is Chris Stapleton, who took the Country Music Awards by storm a couple of years ago. I don't know whether or not you're familiar with him but if you like old-school country then I think you'll really like him.

Here's a couple of songs:
