Subject: Which are the dark decades (vibe-wise)?

Written By: Dundee on 05/23/18 at 5:55 am

I actually read here a lot about some decades having "a dark vibe", which makes me wonder "Which do you consider as dark-vibed and why?" ???

You can vote for multiple decades, so you don't have to decide on the darkest one.

Every decade, every year, every month, every week, every day, has a dark vibe!

That's a pretty sad outlook on life!

1930s are a suprisingly upbeat decade when it comes to pop culture despites the horrible politics and economy, with lots of nice Swing, Dixieland, Dance Band and Blues songs that came out of it. As well as a very ambitious and experimental cinema with a certain sense of grandeur. It's also the first truly classic decade for animation.

Also yeah, I excluded them because they're so obvious answers to the thread question.

Culturally this decade has actually been very upbeat. The 90s were dark though with the whole grunge subculture.

Here we go with the "2010s being a dark decade" biased bull.

60's was a very dark decade because of obvious reasons but it payed off towards the end, making the 70's very light.

90's were probably the lightest and most fun decade of all time if you were a kid or teen/young adult but for regular adults it was probably very dark, because it was the rise of a lot of comedy and entertaining pop culture that would never had been acceptable in the 70's and 80's plus the tragedies that happened throughout the time were very underrated, people act like only the 00's had tragedies but outside of 9/11 the 90's were just as bad. It was a transitional decade too with the rise of the World Wide Web, which also had controversial opinions for people when they first heard about it. So the 90's seem dark to me from an adult perspective. The fact that the 90's weren't only the last decade of the century, but the last of the MILLENNIUM, gave everyone chills too (shivering). 1999999999999..... BOOM!

2010's are extremely dark, and nothing needs to be explained cause we've discussed on this board many times. Social media being so heavy. Everybody in society getting overly and easily offended by their emotions for someone having a different opinion or belief than you. Police brutality. Racism. Shootings and terrorist attacks. Trump brainwashing and fooling the nation. I could go on and on.

The darkest decade would be the one that had the most power cuts?

The 80s were definitely a dark time socially because of the crack epidemic and the Reaganomics.

The mid 90s were pretty dark with gangsta rap being at it's peak and the whole east coast vs west coast beef in the hip-hop community.

The 2000s as a whole had a mix of dark and light-hearted stuff, while it was politically dark with Bush being president and the wars in the middle east the music felt pretty light-hearted compared to stuff from the 90s since it was very teeny-boppy, but still had some edge to it with crunk music being notorious for starting fights back in the day. The 00s is a perfect mix of 90s simplicity and 10s digital-oriented vibe.
