Subject: When did the "modern era" begin in your opinion?

I would say the modern era began in 1957 when the first satellite went into space, but what about you?

Post-WWII is definitely modern, although you could also make the case for post-WWI being modern.
The 1920s are often regarded as "the first modern decade", as that's when automobiles, telephones, and radio were now a standard, when there was a rise in consumerism, and when talking films, fast food (White Castle, A&W), sliced bread, and commercial air travel became a thing.

Yeah, definitely after WWII, technology just kept doing massive leaps since. Even history books agree with this notion.

I think the start of WW2 in 1939 to the end of the space race in 1975 was kind of a transitional era from old to modern. I think the '80s are a lot closer the the '10s technologically than they are to the '40s despite being the same distance apart from each of them.

I can agree with that.

I was going to say around 1750 but 1715 works too.
