Subject: Millennials were obsessed with medieval fantasy worlds

Written By: duenas8 on 03/30/20 at 9:57 pm

Everything started with Lord of the Rings in 2001, also in the same year Harry Potter had a lot of fantastic elements from medieval times. Then there was a huge wave of fantasy movies focused on millennials, from Narnia, Eragon to The Spiderwick Chronicles, among other forgettable films. The genre peaked when Game of Thrones made its debut in 2011, at the same time when millennials came of age and they started to enjoy sex, blood and deep dialogues on TV.

Now Gen Z has a huge obsession with cyberpunk and dystopia, which is a more realistic view of the world we’re living today.

There is this place in Toronto, and I think in other North American cities, called Medieval Times where you role play as medieval characters. They have knights ride on horses and jousting, and they have you eat medieval food (without forks – you're supposed to bring your own fork for "authenticity"  ::)). I was thinking of going there but it seems to be more oriented towards parents with kids.

There has always been a facination.  Ever since there's been a cinema.  LOTR takes place long before the "middle-ages". Some of thr best historic dramas came out in the 90's.  Braveheart anyone???😏
