I like the topic!

The 60s-70s Chicago soul group The Artistics had no big hits but a couple minor hits.  They got more airplay in Chicago.  I like this smoothy, their last chart hit -

I like the topic!  I presume you mean artists that the reader would likely be unfamiliar with?

I like your idea you think I should change the topic or just keep it as is? What do you think?  ???

Though not herself well known, she is of a famous music family, the best known of which is her brother Ronnie.  This dreamy slow jam got served up at campus parties during my days at University.  She covers this pleasant but unremarkable Stylistics album cut beautifully:

I've mentioned this one in other topics, but it fits here and anyone who loves 80s pop music needs this song in their life!  Industry were a synth-pop band from New York who released their only album Stranger to Stranger in 1984, which featured their only charting single, State of the Nation which peaked at #81 in the US.  The song had 2 different videos and while the one seen below got played on MTV, further success eluded them and they called it quits that same year.

Here is a British band called The Drivers.  Led by singer Nick Van Eede, they signed with a Canadian record label and in 1983, found success exclusively in Canada with the album Short Cuts, which peaked at #73, and the single Tears on Your Anorak, which peaked at #31.  They toured Canada with a Canadian band called Fast Forward, which featured guitarist Kevin MacMichael, but broke up the following year.  In 1985, Eede and MacMichael went to London and would go on to form a new band which became Cutting Crew and in 1987, had a world famous smash hit with (I Just) Died in Your Arms

While The Drivers were around during the Second British Invasion, they were not considered part of it because they were only popular in Canada, but don't let that stop you from enjoying this fantastic song!  Cutting Crew are well loved around the world but they wouldn't have existed without The Drivers

I don't know if it's possible to be obscure and legendary at the same time, but that's the way I'd describe Pearls Before Swine. In the 60s they were considered an "underground" band, today they might be called a cult band. They had a poetic, mystical slant.
