I pretended to be Erin (Quirk) on April Fools day... i didnt make a new account, but i did change my name and my avatar to match hers. I even fooled HER! She was reading "her" posts and going "I don't remember posting this" :)

One time my brother and I made a fake AOL name that looked exactly like another person's e-mail that she knew. We altered their name ever so slightly so she wouldn't notice it unless she looked really hard and then we sent her a faux e-mail from that person.. it was just funny to get her reaction with that... that was awhile ago, so it could've been April Fools, lol.

I was SF for a few years. Nobody tried to get close, if they had I would have had the "Stones" to PM them and tell them who I was. I went as far as using my ex-wife's picture (With her complete blessing) and never tried to hurt anyone.
My son Randall is (Bodacious Boy) and Brian and Paul combined to be rap-hater when they came over to see me. Randall used to often have me help with wording for his mostly political posts and I was the one who came up with the avatars....again, no harm was done. Given all this coming to light I have asked them if they just want thier accounts cancelled and they can rejoin someday when they have computers at thier own homes.
Thanks again to jiminy, Dagny, Zella and Rhonda for understanding why I did what I did. :)

i know how to forgive....but coming from someone who has been not able to trust people for many years now due to personal reasons....I can't say that I won't be more careful who I entrust certain info to anymore...but that's just MY opinion.

You took the words right out of my mouth.  No one got hurt and SF was never mean spirited, so it was no big deal to me. Heck, I didn't even know anything about it until earlier this evening. I think it is time to just move on from the whole topic.

OK I think I've got it all figured out now.
Crazymom decided to create Harmonica so that when she needs to vent, she uses Harmonica to tick herself off, so that she can come back as Crazymom and chew herself out.
Bobby and Paul are also the same person, as are CF and Ktelqueen. So when you see Paul and CF flirting with each other, it is really Bobby and Ktelqueen.
Alchoholica is Apricot. The sad thing about that story was, Alchoholica almost got busted when he made plans to meet MidknightDarkness in person.. he had to hop on the next plane to Pittsburgh and hitchhike to Shippensburg, where his Apricot persona is from.
GRS is also known as DAK. Notice the pattern with the three-letter names, both of which started out as three WORD names...
Howard started using the name Jiminy so that he could be 100% devoted to Robin on his regular name, but loosen up a bit under the Jiminy persona...
Notice that Tam disappears sometimes for weeks at a time, and Jacks appears? Then Jacks disappears for weeks, and suddenly Tam is around?  hmm...

Ok, here is my two cents about the matter.
When you are on-line and talk to people, whether it be in a chat room, message board or even IM, you don't really KNOW who you are talking to. That is why there is much discussion about predators, etc. Because of that reason, I try to be very careful of what info I reveal here. You never know who is reading this board. Also, in real life, I have been known to put my trust in the wrong people from time to time. I try to learn from my past mistakes. Other than the fact that I am married to Carlos, and we live in Vermont, most of you don't know too much more about me. But, one thing I hope that you all know, is that I am honest and if anyone puts their trust in me, they will know that I will not break that trust (and I hope there are few of you here who will vouch to that). I know that some people do create new accounts as a joke-and most of the time it is very obvious. Sometimes I don't know who it is but I know it is a board member. But, when someone does it for a long time and it not very obvious, I just feel that it is deceitful. Was I hurt by this joke? Personally, no. But, it does make me wonder if that person is trustworthy.

That is an interesting point. IMO this kind of activity doesn't respect, almost shows contempt for the genuine people here who work towards showing their integrity on the boards.

If you have read Superfreak's posts over the last so long, Rhonda (which I did - I think the account has been deleted now). You will find that if there was a joke there, I couldn't find it. It consisted of Superfreak moaning because people didn't want to partake in her 'Soap opera' thread and then Mark consoling her later on - that is a bit too weird if you ask me. :-\\

Believe it or not, I actually did *think* about creating another account.. because there were some things i wanted to say (true things about my life, btw) that I didn't want my friends and family in real life to know... and I knew that with my first name, city/state, and just other things I have posted about, that if any of my family/friends happened upon this board they could tell it was me... but then i thought about it, and I thought "What is the point of posting these things if the people on the board don't even know it's me".. so it only took me about 30 seconds to decide against it.

I think all of us have pondered what it would be like to have an alias account on the boards...but most of us haven't followed through with it. I see nothing wrong with playing jokes, etc...but there comes a time and a place when a joke is taken way too far and out of context...especially whenever most of the people involved have no clue as to what the "joke" is even about.

Believe it or not, I actually did *think* about creating another account..
I have to admit, so did I. But I soon realised it would be far too complicated for me. For starters: there's limits to the thngs you can "fake", like you have to be familiar with the city/country that your "other half" lives in - and I haven't been abroad a lot! And then I would have to create a different style in writing/responding as well... :-\\  No, I don't think I would've lasted long.
after everything that happened the other night, I wanted to know how it felt to have two accounts, it is not easy. I gave up after just a couple days.

I think all of us have pondered what it would be like to have an alias account on the boards...but most of us haven't followed through with it. I see nothing wrong with playing jokes, etc...but there comes a time and a place when a joke is taken way too far and out of context...especially whenever most of the people involved have no clue as to what the "joke" is even about.

Okay, I have to admit that I used to lie on yahoo when I'd be playing a game and someone would IM me for ASL.....my id had cheerleader in it and I'd tell them I was 28, MALE, Berkeley, CA ;D ;D
Sometimes Carlos plays pogo on my account. More men hit on him than the do me. (I don't know if I should worry about that or not. :-\\ ) Two incidences. The first one: The guy asked if he was married. He said, "Married....and male." The guy left the room so quickly it was funny-I think everyone else in the room was laughing at that one. The second one: Carlos said the same thing and they guy was STILL hitting on him. I guess he didn't believe that Carlos was indeed male. Everyone else in the room "got it" but not this guy.
We used to play under Carlos' account. He set up his profile-that said "male". As I was playing, it was quite obvious that I was a female but then someone would check the profile and make an annoucement that I was male. Everyone else in the room KNEW that I played under his account-and it was like a chorus of everyone setting this person streight. But, this is reason why in Pogo (as well as other places, I don't usually set up a profile. (I'm sure many of you are going to check my profile here now. ;) )

I don't know Howard, except from personal experiences. One of my best friends is a gay man, and he is the funniest, sweetest person I have known. They aren't afraid to tell it like it is, give you fabulous home interior tips, and they always make me smile!

1) I changed my screen name to Alcoholica, stole his avatar and while disguised as Alchoholica, posted that i simply adore ABBA, especially Dancing Queen.
2) I signed on as "=" in response to "@" who signed on earlier in the day. (Don't know who @ was though) My whole purpose of being = was to get a rise out of Beth... but I don't think she ever even went to the thread.. but it worked out ok, because GRS cracked me up with his response.
I haven't laughed this hard in a looooooong time ;D
