Big Boards #63 by Post Ratio .... We're surging!
Following the recent purging of inactive accounts .... we have rocketed up from around #160 ranked by post ratio score (average posts per member) to currently #63.
It might be uplifting to post that figure when perhaps we're slipping in that other thread .. (which any resemblance to/whose name I forget ... because this is an entirely original idea ..) :D
P.S. I've modified my post in the stats thread and fixed the links (below) which :-RANKINGS PAGES: BY POST/ MEMBER RATIO

Some of that info from the 'Statistics ... lies damned lies' thread is probably worth repeating here for ease of future comparison ... and relevant to this thread.
So... here's one partial copy of one of my posts there:
The 1st figure is the Rank position ... then over to the right .... the first of the 3 figures is the post ratio, then the number of posts, finally, the number of members. Boards 2 & 3 here (by Rank) ... have only 18 and 19 members (respectively). The board in 11th spot has a SOLITARY member ... and their 1647 posts are enough to put them in that spot. So ... kind of 'rough justice' in one sense to judge things solely by this method (post ratios). Still, at least we are a lot higher.

This stuff is worth repeating here too, I think:
Things have changed just a little since I started this thread just a month back ... on July 26 (now Aug 26). Just a little in that a glance at the following will show a 'slight' change in membership ... nearly 3,000 members less than we had then. Yeah ... not much difference there! ;) :D
Could this be down to my being fairly active over this period .... have I single-handedly almost halved the membership? :-Planned system maintenance - Purge Inactive accounts

Also of note...
The male / female ratio favours females more (if there were ever any on this board dumb or crazy enough to be interested in the likes of ANY of us .. in THAT way ... well.. maybe PRESENT company excepted :P ;D :D ). This is probably a result of that membership pruning.

Hey ... looks like I have the honour :D of being the 1st to post a current update ('hot off the press') to our 'big board' figures in this regard.
Here is a summary of our 'big board' stats that I posted on August 26th in the stats thread:

Now todays figures (Aug 28th). Looks like Big Boards was up to date with us in the last half hour.
Our ranking hasn't altered from #63. Steady as she goes ... as dear Phillip might say!

which shows all kinds of groovy info relevant to 'inthe00s.com', such as a pie chart of percentage of origins of our members from USA, Canada, Australia, UK, Germany, & 'others'. Well worth a look! 8) 8) 8)

I like the name of this thread too! Much more optimistic 'we're surging' than the negative 'we're slipping'.
I think it was 'Oddball' (Donald Sutherland) in 'Kelly's heroes' who said something like 'Don't give me negative waves Moriarty' ... 'You're giving me negative waves!' :(

Yeah ...it aint gonna alter much .... at least positively. Much more likely .... we're gonna slip down ... as new members join. A 'double edged' sword. Obviously, on the one hand .... good that new members join. However ... they .... when not posting much ... become a load on the 'post ratiio' .... that the 'postwhores' have to take the burden of.
I did my homework on this about a week back ... but then never posted my observations. Slack ... I know!
Nevertheless ... there's only about one board ranked above us ... who we might be able to lower .. if several of us joined (devious, I know ... but who's to say that's what other boards haven't done to us?! ). Think they were in the Top 20, with ONE member. Of course ... that assumes you COULD join ... which they may have made difficult ... deliberately!
So ... best case scenario ... we could climb one notch in anything like the near future ... which is why I've given away this thread!
Still, it was good for a while! ...

Just type 'bump' ... in every single dormant thread on this board.
That should keep you going for a little while .... get your count up even more rapidly .. and who knows ... some of us might encounter the odd decent thread we didn't know about!
You could set a new personal best doing that too!

P.S. Once you've bumped every thread .... you could start all over again, and again, and again ...

Wow! I've just had another look at our membership. Looks like we've jettisoned a few ... 8) 8) http://forum.pc-freakz.com/style_emoticons/default/clapping.gif
Because of the difference in the member-list (searchable from home page ... it gives us as 1279 last time I looked .... and the '1289' I last saw in our 'key stats' (top right corner of this page) .... for convenience / worst case scenario ... I chose 1300 as our membership ... giving us a very very rough approx / ball park ratio of 1294.
When the new 'Big Board' figures are released in just over 3 hours .... I expect to see us on page one .... in 16th spot! 8) 8) 8) 8)

That ^ all translates to #16 as our post-ratio ranking ... a post ratio of 1304 posts per member, of 1290 members ... for a total of 1682596 posts.

I picked it ... #16 .... and wasn't TOO far off in the 'post ratio' stakes either .... 1304 for that (my 'guesstimate' was 1294 (quote below) ) .... using 1290 (according to them) as our membership.
for convenience / worst case scenario ... I chose 1300 as our membership ... giving us a very very rough approx / ball park ratio of 1294.
When the new 'Big Board' figures are released in just over 3 hours .... I expect to see us on page one .... in 16th spot! 8) 8) 8) 8)

So ... the number of posts per member .. averaged out is currently 1304. Some members have posted zip .... then you've got a number of people with 20,000 or more posts ... one person above 130,000 .... so that's how it averages out.
On that measure .... I am currently ... with 1256 posts (including this one) ... 'below average !' :-[ :-[ :-[

Since yesterdays trim ... the average post per member is now approximately 1370 posts, (1304 yesterday) using the current figure of 1229 members /1683472 posts.

Come on, Luke. A lot of those 'members' weren't REAL members. Just people who posted here a handful of times over the last year or two ... then were totally inactive over the last 6 months (at least!). Some never posted at all !!!
My own feeling is that our true membership is only a few hundred regulars (at best! 200 maybe?) ... but I'm quite happy with seeing us up around 1000 or thereabouts.

Gamers Talk P.R. actually went down ... obviously due to new membership ... although we must have acquired more in that respect to lower our own P.R. to 1429 (1437 yesterday). Our membership increased from 1175 to 1182. Posts are recorded as 1688906.
The board below us ... 'Buffy World' ... have a P.R. of 1409. We might be able to stave off the drop to #15 for a little while ....

I read in another thread ... something like 'life's little annoyances' ... (??) ... you mentioned 'room-mates'. I have to confess my puzzlement.
