So he tried to evade the fare payment? He can't do that (or shouldn't be able to, at that). It's one thing if you have a bus pass which you can show to the operator, but it's another if you have no form of payment at all. ::)

In the future buses should have fare boxes in the back of the bus so that way fare boxes should be in front and in back.

Well, from what I understand, the standard way to enter a bus is through the front doors, so that you can submit your fare payment when boarding.

Fudge to the service people on the HP help line; we have been without a working printer for two weeks, after purchasing a new HP printer two months ago. Earlier this month we tried powering on the printer, but it wouldn't work, so my mom called tech support; they sent a new power module to try to correct the problem, but that didn't do the trick, so my mom called 'em back last Friday and reported that the problem was the printer itself (which is ridiculous for a machine that was purchased brand-new 2 months ago and is still under warranty). So on Friday my mom spoke to someone about the problem; the person said they'd get back to us "within two or three days"...that didn't happen, so this morning my mom called 'em back again, to try to get to the bottom of this, and right now she is waiting to speak to someone on the telephone.

So...we've been dealing with HP online and on the phone for going on two weeks now and still no replacement printer--oh, but on Friday they said they wanted to send us a "refurbished" printer as a replacement (which may have had some defects in itself)--can you believe that?

This is why I buy the store warranty. then you don't have to deal with the knuckle heads in customer service.  The company's customer service people never offer to send a new replacement. They always unload someone elses previously broken crap onto the next customer. Rest assured. When your mom sends the printer back they will "fix" it and send it along to someone else.

If they are charities then they probably have a phone bank or phone system that makes it hard for someone to call back... my best guess is that they prefer to talk to a live body and don't want you call back but want to reach you by having you answer the phone.

that's because they are bound to remove you from their call list if you tell them to... if they continue to call then you have to say

"I have requested to be removed from your list yet you continue to call me. If I receive any more calls from you I will file a complaint with the police for annoying and harassing phone calls."  Jeff, after the phrase "annoying and harassing phone calls", you can add  per Six-fifty-three-M in the California Penal Code.    I don't know what the code is in other states.

I just use the Coin Star machine at the grocery store... sure they charge 8 cents on the dollar but it beats spending hours counting and rolling coin.  If you choose to donate the money to charity they don't charge you at all... plus you get the option of getting cash or you can put the money on an amazon gift card! They probably have other gift cards but I like amazon so I never looked further into it.

they used to give coin wrappers away at the bank... don't know if they still do.

it's 8 cents per dollar so if you had 10 dollars in quarters it would cost  you 80 cents.  I figure it's not just cheaper than buying rolls its also about worth the time I save not having to sit there and roll the damn coins.

But I like putting dollar bills in,Sorry about the minor fudge,It's just me.

Save those dollars for when you go to visit the dancer bars.   ;) :-
they used to give coin wrappers away at the bank... don't know if they still do.

it's 8 cents per dollar so if you had 10 dollars in quarters it would cost  you 80 cents.   I figure it's not just cheaper than buying rolls its also about worth the time I save not having to sit there and roll the damn coins.

We use the Coinstar thing too (Ann, they are often found in the front of grocery stores near to the check-out lanes.  I think that they are green machines that you dump all of your coins into and the machine sorts them and prints out a receipt which you take through the grocery check-out (at least that's what you do in our coinstar machines.)  I've seen them inside by the cashiers at Wal-Mart too.

I'm odd (I know) but I actually like to play with my coins.  I must be a closeted collector of coins.  I so wanted to visit the U.S. Mint in Philadelphia when we all met there.  But we didn't get into town in time.   :(

Soooo... being that this is the fudge thread... Fudge the slooooowwwwww internet connection today.

Oh and Fudge that I was not born a ravishing beauty.   :D  (Not that I necessarily want to be ravished.)

If you're pressed for time, a basic electronic coin counter can be had for $25-50.  Even at CSTR's rates, it pays for itself within $300-500 of change.  Your bank may vary, but I've always gotten free coin rolls from my bank.

But to all y'all who pay 8% to let a robot roll your coins, thank you!  You helped fund the Redbox kiosk that sits next to the Coinstar one!

Same here.  Every couple of years I get to pretend I'm Scrooge McDuck for a couple of hours.

And if I lose count...

...I just start all over again!  Whee!

Fudge: To an educational system doesn't teach its kids the value of something that, compared to letting Coinstar do it for you, provides a risk-free 8% return on investment for about an hour's work.  That's about 5-10 times better than your bank will give you even if you deposited the proceeds from the machine into your savings account.

Not our local grocery store, but I must have seen a coinstar thing somewhere at some point of time because the name seems familiar.  When I was a kid, we had a bank that gave out free coin rolls.  My new bank is in the grocery store and no free rolls.

My new bank is in the grocery store and no free rolls.

(*fudge* your bank!)

What a coincidence... a bank branch in a grocery store that has a CSTR machine, doesn't give out coin rolls.  It's almost like there's something in the contract that says they're supposed to screw over their customers on behalf of the other tenants of the store.

For a better time, deposit a check (or find some other excuse) with a human teller at another branch at the same bank.  It may (or may not) help to "buy" a couple of rolls of quarters for $20, and then ask the teller if you can have a fistful of coin wrappers.  I don't think I've paid for a coin wrapper in my life, and my bank is not known for customer service.  On the other hand, I've always banked at a dedicated bank branch.  On the gripping hand, it's been a couple of years, and the world may have changed since 2007ish.  Still, it can't hurt to give it a try at a "real" bank branch.

Yeah patty the coin star works the same here. And it is green.
Ann your albertsons, von's, ralphs or Safeway will have one. It's at the front of the store near the ATM or lotto machine. Usually close to the doors.

Patty when I was a kid I always wanted my money in one dollar bills I felt like having a big wad of cash was like being rich. I forever counted played with flashed and examined my bills. Lol.

true... I will say tho retail gives you that perception much better than waiting tables some people are asses to people who wait tables just because they are asses in general so then you just learn how to be bitter towards asses... not a thing it's just sort of a lesson I didn't need to be taught.    ;)

no I think in retail you learn to see the bigger picture you recognize that your vision is not necessarily one that works best for the company you have to learn to get along with different types of personalities and you have to learn to smile while a person is cussing you out... I didn't handle that last part too well.... see in waiting tables you can get your backwards revenge by effing with people's food so you don't learn to deal with shyt and accept it you just go behind someone's back and deal with it the way you want it dealt with.. not really helping that getting along in the real world scenario we were talking about... ya know....

We got $50 on a Borders card a year or so ago.  I really wanted a Subway or Dunkin Donuts card but that wasn't an option.  I must look what the gift card options are here.

So either the batteries and dead, or the red light isn't working. Go back to that lady and tell her it's still not working (show her the light does not come on) ,that you need new batteries for you to do your job. And be nice/polite to her.

If new batteries don't help, then your remote is busted, need a new one.

Is that what he said yesterday?

Or is that what you were told last week?

I think you're aiming at the wrong angle (pointing too high or too low)

That's why I think you should ask if others are having problems too.

If others are having problems Theresa a problem with the remote.

If you are the only one having problems then you are doing something wrong.
