Got an invitation to another bridal shower happening July 3rd.  The invitation says it will have a Japanese theme.  ???  It also says that this park where it's going to be held has fishing and hiking and a room downstairs to which the men can retire to play games and such while the ladies get their shower on...  Hubby hasn't decided if he wants to go or not yet, technically they are his friends from his role-playing group (to which I've met them but only casually talked once or twice.)  I, again, don't have anything bought.  Maybe just give them a wal-mart gift card (they are registered there).  Personally I don't really feel like shopping or being all social, but perhaps it's what  need to do to become less preoccupied...

I hope it turns out to be a good month. I will have my 30th birthday, which should be exciting... but my temporary job is scheduled to end shortly thereafter (namely, on the 15th). If it does, then I will most likely need to look for more jobs. But maybe something will open up at the place where I've been working; I've enjoyed my current job and that's a good thing.

at least you know have a job on your resume...it should be easier to find a job now (current nationwide employment difficulties aside)
I say it should be easier because employers are always more receptive to someone with a recent work history.

My big Newfoundland, just got a chin nip and tuck, thanks to my husband trying to tackle shaving him down by himself.  Otis' dewlap (fleshy neck skin) got caught in the clipper's and got sliced down fairly well.  They clipped off the remainder of the sheared skin, and gave me some antibiotics.  I hope he is alright  :\'(  Hubby feels terrible, but what can we do...  I love my Newfie, never a whine, welp, growl, or even a whimper.  He is big, but he is the bestest dog (and my old Newfie was the same way)...  Give him his antibiotic, and keep screw worm spray on it, and he should be fine!

A quiet day-unless we decide to go see the lumberjack show in the park. Yup-that's right, a lumberjack show (and I'm ok. I sleep all night and I work all day.  :D ;D ;D ;D ) We have the door open and can hear the announcer. We are only about 30 yards from the park. Tonight, we will be watching our annual movie-1776 & tomorrow, we are planning to go out on the boat-first time all season. We don't usually like to go out on weekends because it can get kind of crowded but this time we are making an exception because tomorrow night Ticonderoga, NY will be having their fireworks display. Our usual anchor place is off of Mount Independence on the Vermont side & Fort Ticonderoga on the NY side. From that spot we will be able to see most of the display from the boat.

OH he is a good dog!  He is still taking his amoxicillin, tonight he would not take it in the velveeta (that he has been taking it in), so hubby forced it down his throat (good thing about huge dogs, you don't need a pill pusher. Just stick your whole hand in it's mouth and get the pills to the back of it's throat).  Keep spraying the fly spray on the wound, and he is eating and drinking.  I think those are all real good signs, but the cut is still really icky looking.

When we got to the marina yesterday, we were unloading the car. I was bringing the 3 jugs of water and I noticed one was extremely light. I asked Carlos about it and he said he filled it up. When I went back to the car-sure enough, the truck had a HUGE wet spot-including on our sleeping bags.  :o :o  Carlos wanted to leave them behind but I said to bring them anyway and maybe they will dry before we need them.

We also realized that our stow-away was still there-at least he/she/they was/were since the last time we went out because our bait we left out was gone. So, no matter what I did, I was half expecting a little mouse to jump out at me.

When it was time to leave our boat slip, as usual Carlos was at the engine & I untied the lines on the dock and then jump on the boat. Unfortunately, this did not go very smooth. The wind kept taking the stern of the boat over to the next boat. Carlos kept trying to hold it off from hitting that boat as I was trying to pull the boat back over to our dock. I think I got on & off the boat a few times. Finally, the last time I got on, we were still trying to keep the boat from hitting the other boat when the owner of the marina and someone else came to help. They climbed on the other guy's boat and pushed off-and we were free from the slip. The wind was whipping so we only used the jib (for those of you who do not know, that is the front sail). We got our usual anchorage and throw the anchor out.

Shortly after, one sailboat came by and asked us how deep it was. He was fairly close to us and dropped his anchor-followed by 4 other boats (4 sailboats & 1 motor boat). All 5 boats hooked up together. After a while, we noticed they kept getting further and further away from us. They only had one anchor out for 5 boats. It was kind of funny watching them all drift away. Finally, 1 boat unhooked and came back to where they originally were. The other 4 also came back but they were still hooked together. It was kind of funny seeing 4 boats moving as one.

We did do a little fishing-we each caught 1. Carlos caught a yellow perch & I caught a white perch. Both were small so we threw them back. No fish for dinner (besides my seafood sandwich from Subway  ;) ).

When the sun went down, there were fireworks going off all around the lake-including from the 4 boats that were close to us. They didn't have too many-only about 2 or so. We really didn't see the ones on shore too well and thought it was a bust. I was getting eaten alive by mosquitoes so we decided to go in the cabin. After we got in, got the screen up & lit the lantern, THEN the REAL fireworks began-the ones we were waiting for. So, back out on deck we went. I sat with my legs in the cabin under the screen so The mosquitoes didn't bother me too much. It turned out to be a nice display.

Didn't sleep very well-never do on the boat mainly because of the size of the v-berth. I think sometime in the middle of night I might have heard our stow-away scratching but I'm not sure. It could have just been from the wind. It is pretty cool to lay in bed and look up through the hatch and see all the stars in the sky (and yes, the hatch also has a screen). BTW, the sleeping bags were dry by the time we got into bed.

This morning, Carlos was putting a sheet on one of the benches in the cabin and found a dead little mousie. We don't know if that was our stow-away or if he had some friends. We put out some more bait so we will know next time. I can't believe that such a little guy could cause so much mess. He even ate some of our soap.  :o :o :o

Coming back, we had trouble getting into the slip again. We rammed right into the dock. As I was trying to pull the boat toward the dock, Carlos was trying to hold it off from hitting that other boat. Someone saw us and came over and asked if we needed some help. I said, "Yes." The 3 of us managed to get the boat where it should be and tied her off in her slip.

Came home & took a shower. Now I am very tired and my arms are very sore from trying to pull the boat in the slip. Everything is moving as if I am still on the boat.

And if people have already stopped reading, no biggie. I just feel like I have to write this all out.  :D ;D ;D ;D

Read it all...  Water leakage = wet sleeping bags.
Trouble getting boat out of slip due to wind
Get out to spot and set anchor, 5 other's anchor (5 boats 1 anchor = failure to stay in 1 spot)
Fishing soso (1 white, 1 yellow throw backs)
Mouse bait 1/2 gone = dead mousey (with a potty mouth)
FIREWORKS (in more ways than 1, I am sure)...

I think that is it O0

Were you anywhere near the town where the horses broke free of their harness in the parade and trampled a bunch of people?

This weekend I developed a bad rash on arms, chest, back, hands and somewhat on feet, legs.  Been itching like crazy!  I thought at first it was poison ivy (but looked it up and my rash doesn't look like that.)  Ready to take a belt sander to the affected areas.
Been going to see alot of dollar movies lately just to get out of this smothering heat.

Swim lessons went AWESOME!  Although my 8 year old said (and I quote) "I guess I just need someone I can really trust" (to teach her how to swim)- MOM FAIL (since I have been trying to teach her, and every other swim coach).  My youngest is not afraid of anything, and dives and everything; eldest hates getting face wet.  Well they are both in the first session of swim lessons (again for eldes, she has taken them 3 times now), and the teachers asked them to see who could hold their breath under the water the longest, my two lasted the longest.  Then they made them compete against one another, the eldest held it out (and she HATES getting face wet).  When I asked her privately later, did you want to beat your sister she got a cute little grin and said Yes...    SO off we go again, we have a months worth of lessons!

OH and the horses who ran over the people, were about an hour north of us.  Small town parade though, sorta scarey freak accidents can always happen. I just hope they don't stop having the parade (or horses) in them.  My hometown stopped throwing candy, so kids didn't get ran over trying to get the candy.  THey now have no parades (the kids wanting the candy, are the reason people go to parades); and why can't parents learn to watch their kids ::)

Anyway... I've been pondering about moving for about, oh I dunno... a year or so. Maybe more. Today I finally put my money where my mouth is.
(off topic: why would anybody want to do that? I mean: literally put your money where your mouth is? :-\\)
Went to the building corporation and got registered. I'm now oficially a house hunter.  8) They've some appartments under construction atm that I'm VERY interested in. Let's hope I qualify. (Completion scheduled for spring 2011, so I'm not moving yet!)

I'll keep y'all posted.

Way cool. I would love to help you look. One of the things I love to do is look at houses.

For us, we are going up north to celebrate my youngest step-daughter's birthday. I THINK she is 25 today.  :o :o :o  I KNOW that can't be.  :D :D :D

Swimming lessons today - all went well (eldest even jumped off the diving board - huge step for her).  I just wish she would trust, and just swim; I do not understand her fear (nothing traumatic has happened to her) and water does not hurt (unless you cannot swim)....  I love the water and lived in it during the summers...

Tonight I am going punting with some of my work collegues. I have only been living in this area for 26 years and never been before  :-http://www.brookes.ac.uk/studying/images/punting

Did you have a good time, Henk?  This is the first time I've ever heard it called punting.  I've only been out on a row boat once in my life when I was 17.  It was a nice experience, but I have no desire to ever do it again.  That is interesting that it's a gondola with row boat paddles.

Not THAT far north-only to Stowe.

Had a good time. Went swimming-well, more like sitting in a pool.  :D ;D ;D Got to see Granddaughter #4 & Grandson. We got some sandwich stuff instead of going out-ate, and then my step-son, fiancé & Grandson had to leave. We left a short while later. It was a 2 hour drive-actually a bit longer because we took the "scenic" way home-which is just about any way we decide to go.  :D ;D ;D ;D But, it was a different route than our norm.

Palm Springs? That's in the east area of California, a few miles from the Arizona border. My grandparents live out that direction; I wonder if they felt it. Still a great distance from the Los Angeles area.

Today is the last day of WEEK 1 of swim lessons. 4 days, and the eldest girl will now freeely float on back and stomach, jump off the diving board, put her face in the water, jump in (getting her face wet), dive after rings, and do a basic (although crude type) swim (cross between a crawl and doggy paddle).  MAN 4 years of swim lessons to get us this far (and all but the very first of them were private), this is a GREAT year - she LOVES to swim, and can't wait to get to swim lessons.  I finally had to get mean, and tell her she needed to stay out of our pool, if she couldn't swim (no just floating around on floaties and wading anymore) and what friends was she going to have (because if they went swimming, she wouldn't be able to go).  PLUS her instructor (a high school student of mine - is telling her to do it, not just me, and both are encouraging her she CAN do it (she likes to say she can't and then bail out - same problem with bike riding).

GOING CAMPING for the first time this year!  YAY

So a friend/coworker just came by the house for a visit.  He has been out of work, too.  His wife just got laid off.  They didn't take the Cobra Insurance benefit from the local because he said the government is taking over health care and he doesn't believe it's right.  His wife wasn't offered insurance where she worked.  Now deadline for him to take advantage of the government subsidized Cobra from the local has passed, he is on his own as far as getting health insurance so he will have to apply to the state so they won't have anything.  All of the sudden things are looking a little bit different on the help from the government side.  This is the same attitude people had when they instituted unemployment compensation, didn't hear him bellyaching about that for the past year, either.

I think it's cursed  :D I can only plant along the fence the only plant that can survive my garden not up against the fence are the amaranths.  My garden starts in fall in my part sun winter section with a passion vine and snapdragon, lupine, and four o clock seeds in back by the fence.  Probably plant pumpkins in the fall or something besides seed experimenting and letting the amaranths grow.

I had a great birthday today!

My parents were taking me to an Italian restaurant in Camarillo that I like (Ottavio's); what I didn't know is that other family members and family friends were gonna be there too! That caught me by total surprise. But I had a nice time with everyone. 8)

Happy B-Day, Nally.  Italian food is the absolute best food in the world.  I'm glad I have some Italian heritage.  My Grandmother was from Naples and she could cook leather and make it taste great.  I know you ate well.

Unfortunately it's not the best news. His hearts not pumping properly allowing blood to circulate (or something- I'm bad at this shyt) anyway, that's why he needed the surgery but- when he went in this am they found his kidneys are only functioning at 5% so they have to work to kidneys up to at least 25% and see if they can do the stent surgery in a few days. I was supposed to leave today but I can't in good conscience just get in that car and drive away so, I'm burning the last two vacation days I have. It's not gonna make much difference but I think my mom feels better about it.

Just got my free Slurpee from 7-11 for free slurpee day.  Came at the right time cuz I am totally broke and really wanted one.

I know a kid who got fired because of free slurpee day.... he worked for us doing campus security. he was on patrol and decided he wanted to get that last free slurpee before midnight hit... anyway he stashed a department bike behind a bush in the town adjacent to campus... fortunately for us, but unfortunately for him, an off duty student employee saw him do this and watched him get in the car with some friends and leave...  the second kid (he was all of 20  ;) ) secured the bike- it would've been stolen in a matter of minutes... and he reported the incident. not an easy thing to do but we're glad he did- the dept would've been out an expensive bike plus the guy was getting paid to work not leave his beat and drive 3 miles out of the way for a 4 oz slurpee...  ::)

no one knew why he left....when he got called into the office the boss asked him what he was thinking and he said he really wanted a free slurpee before the offer ended  ;D

We move back to our old house in the UK.  We rented it out for the time we were away.

I'm not sure how quickly we will get phones set up etc.  Also need to research which e-mail/internet company to go with.

Exactly.  Elizabeth has the excitement of a new school to look forward to, but she has made several good friends.  It's hard to tell with James.  He doesn't talk much about it.  :-\\  I had a bit of a wobble when I knew the tickets were booked.  It makes it much more definite to know the date of the flight rather than it being sometime in July!

Yeah and I have some great beach front property in southern Arizona I'll sell them.  Let's see now, if they know your card has been used in fraud then they have most of the info they are asking for already.  You know I was born at night - just not last night.  So they want a fax sent.  Unless they are spoofing or redirecting that number like through proxy servers  these rip off jerks can be had by the law.

We did look into reporting them but it was just a hassle. I wish there was a place that we can just forward the email to. It would be so much easier. Oh yeah, who faxes these days?

There is so much of this crap going on now that law enforcement is just overwhelmed.  Best advice- suspect everything, trust no one, do everything that is prudent to protect your identity, learn all you can about how hackers and identity thieves work, get an understanding of social engineering so you can avoid what seems to be casual encounters that are designed to screw you and/or your company up through the info they gather so nonchalantly, learn hacking skills and war driving just so you know what they do and how to spot this activity when it is occurring.

Don't engage in these activities yourself since doing so means that you are committing a felony.  Keep your anti virus SW up to date and download all security patches from trusted vendors.  Never trust a website that you think is secure if the browser line starts with HTTP.  It should start with  HTTPS.  The "S" means secure and that more than likely they are employing encryption and/or (VPN) Virtual Private Network.  You can never be too careful.  You need to do these things for yourself since law enforcement can't help you much so you must help yourself.  Be like Maxwell and Get Smart.
