Like I said on the other thread about things that annoy me:  TRAFFIC annoys me & I think I need road rage therapy :o

Gas prices suck too.

Gridlock !

Where I live there is continual development.  When you go to the local grocery store (and they are all these stupid "megastores"), you can't even flatuate without someone being in your way.  >:(

There are threads already called 'What drives you nuts' and 'Don't you hate it when . . .', RockandRollFan. With all these ranting political debates as well (primarily on George Bush), I don't think we need much more negativity. Just my opinion.  ;)

What REALLY torks me off is people who get all torked off about the boards having too many threads about getting torked off.

Heh heh...

I know you're being tongue in cheek there, Lyricboy.  ;) I'm not too bothered about any thread really. You folks do what you like but even if we all want to display negativity all the time (do we?), some threads just seem to be about the same topics only labelled in a different way.

Like this one.

Actually the political threads are starting to chap my hide.  I have a brother that all he wants to do is b*tch about politics, but when I ask him "how about running for office then" or "put your money where your mouth is" he just says "I am not good at that".  But he is exceedingly good at complaining.

I used to direct a workforce of about 250 people.  From Day One, I made it clear that my office door was open to anybody.  They could come in and complain about anything.  BUT THE PRICE OF ADMISSION was that they had to come in with a well-thought out suggestion of a better way to do things.  Complaints without alternatives (and the intent of participating in the solution) are worthless drivel and a waste of our time.

So my brother actually built a web site about politics.  It says what the Democrats are doing wrong, what the Republoicans are doing wrong, but NOWHERE DOES IT SAY WHAT IS THE "RIGHT" THING TO DO.  So it is a complete waste of cyberspace.

That's why I do not much like the political threads.

My suggestion to partisan posters on this board (of ANY party) is:  If it is REALLY that bad, then you're wasting your time complaining on this board.  Get a committee formed and run for office yourself!.

Oh blimey. You don't have to say sorry, RockandRollFan. I certainly wasn't having a dig. I appreciate how you started this thread off. We all have our 'pressure points' (myself certainly included) and generally, I find the board to be a great way of doing this sometimes. You are amongst people who like to listen to what you say.

In fact, I was at risk of sounding like a 'party-pooper' with my previous posts so I'm glad that they have been taken as merely that . . . Opinionated posts.  ;)

Lastly, RockandRollFan, you are on target, life is short and despite what happens to us big and small (gosh I have heard of the horrible things you have had to endure) we must remember to enjoy ourselves along the way - cynical or not, this could be our last chance.  :)

Thanks Bobby. I kind of liken my new attitude to a scene from the movie "Roadhouse"...Patrick Swayze is telling the bouncers at the bar to just "Be Nice" and escort the vermin outside. The point being made was to not take things so personal. It's also like the bullies I had to deal with in grade school....they are the ones who are so insecure that they feel the need to try and hurt people. Well, grade school was many, many years ago..but thier are always gonna be bullies...I just need to sometimes make myself realize that I'm an adult who has the option of taking the mature way :) BTW, I believe Terry Funk was in that movie ???

I see. Yep, there are three things certain in life, RockandRollfan. Death, taxes and someone to knock you down. If you haven't already, take a look at this poem called 'If' by Rudyard Kipling. It is inspirational and I would recommend anyone to read this:

http://whitewolf.newcastle.edu.au/words/authors/K/KiplingRudyard/verse/p3/if.html

As a footnote, Terry Funk was indeed in the film Roadhouse. He played a bouncer.

Don't be shy. You can call me out. It was ME who posted those comments. I thought we had the liberty to post about our dislikes in the same way there are copious topics about people, actors, actresses, athletes, and musicians that annoy us and we hate for whatever reasons. She thought they were cute. I didn't. We differed in opinions - that was all. I don't see why anyone would get their panties in a bunch over a remark I posted about an actress that most likely none of us know in real life - real life and the internet are two totally different things. I had not the slightest clue all this was going on because SuperFreak disapproved of my taste in women. And now I got two to three posters sniping at me back and forth over this crap. This particular issue has nothing to do with bullying, personal insults, harrassment, or anything of the sort. You created this atmosphere when you took it upon yourself - to "defend" - when you wrote that it annoyed you when someone expressed their opinion about not liking an actress for the way they look and that those opinions should be kept away. That was directed to me. So I made an off-hand remark in reply - sarcastic, at best, but not more insulting than what you wrote and it wasn't meant to insult you either (just to point out the irony of the situation, actually). All in all. I bear no ill will to you, to SuperFreak, to the actress whom I still think is ugly, and to anyone else who posts here.

That's MY whine of the day :D
I want you to know that I appreciate everything you said , The Jackal...I've been a little overly anal these past few days. I'm REALLY nervous about tomorrow. As for SuperFreak, I think she'll survive someone not sharing her opinion. After all, her life choice gets her into a lot of controversy. I just wanted you to know that I also feel no ill will towards you or anyone else on here either ;) JUST when I think somebody wants to have a knock down, drag out with me they turn around and are kind...THAT is MY Whine :D.....kidding ;)

Here is my big fat whine for the day.

Doctors and clinics. I called like ten of them today trying to find a frickin' obstetrician. The one I called in my town put me on hold (again, I went through this last week with them) and then finally told me the doctor could see me on the 23rd.....of JULY. So I've been calling around. NO one wants to take me on as a patient. Why, you ask? Because I have the dreaded Medi-Cal (a form of insurance offered in Cali for people with no income). Oooh....oh no. Not another welfare case. Once I said the magical word "Medi-Cal", I got the cold shoulder, "you lazy welfare bum" treatment. I finally found an obstetrician willing to take me on. Not until the 23rd of June, but that's better than July. ::)

So I would like to thank all the bums who abuse the system and screw it up for the rest of us who actually need it. Thanks to them, the people who really need assistance get treated like cr*p by people in the field. :P

Mind you, I'm not planning on using this forever. Maybe a year at most. God, I hate to see how people react when I get into the WIC (Women, Infants, and Children) program. :-\\

My God!  A woman with an infant having the gall to sign up for WIC?  Where does it stop?

In all seriousness though...

My "guess" as to why they are avoiding you as a MediCal patient is probably that MediCal does not pay as much as regular insurance, or that MediCal takes "forever" to actually pay the doctor for his/her work.  My Mom is on Medicare and on occasion has gotten the "bums rush" because of late-pays by Medicare.

That's true. We were on WIC for all our boys. Now they are trying to give 2% mild instead of Whole...saying it's better for children. I sure wish they'd have done this when we were on it. It would have saved me the trouble of taking the whole milk back to the store and exchanging it for 2% :-\\

I just feel discouraged because people like to form opinions about someone without knowing the situation. I know they're going to look at me and say, "Oh look. Another welfare case having kids so they don't have to work." That's not true at all. I just need the Medi-Cal to help with insurance until I get back on my feet. I'm not even sure I'll need the WIC yet.

Okay, what I want to know is what do my hubby's team members not understand about VACATION!!!  I'm sick and tired of him being on vacation and spending more time working than "vacationing".  Hell, he even had a message on his voice mail over the weekend that he was not available due to a death in the family and he STILL had people calling him!!!  Not to mention that I'm the one who gets to pack EVERYTHING for EVERY DAMNED TRIP because he's "working".  I"ll bet everyone here $100 EACH that he gets at least 3 calls per day for the next 3 days while we're out of town.  Not to mention a gazillion emails (he had 127 from Friday at 5 pm until this morning at 6 am).

This used to be a problem for me until I took positive control of the situation.

I was off vacation for a week and left a clear message on my voice mail that I was out of communication and would not be checking email, and who to contact for "urgent" issues.

The company President's secretary left a message on the voice mail anyway, saying that it was "urgent business" and that she assumed that I was "no doubt was checking my voice mail".  I immediately deleted the message.

When I returned to work the next week, she caught up with me and was irritated as to why I had not called her back.

Secretary:  Lyric Boy, did you get my message?

LB:            You mean the one you left on my voice mail?

Secretary: Yes

LB:          The one that you said was extremely urgent?

Secretary: Yes, of course

LB:          Where you said that I needed to get back to you as soon as possible?

Secretary: Yes thats the one

LB:          I deleted it

Secretary: (looking indignant) WHY DID YOU DO THAT!  IT WAS URGENT!

...I then went on to "rip her a new one" and said that if she had a considerate bone in her body that she would respect my vacation, and that the root word of vacation is "vacate" as in "I am not here".  And that if the issue were REALLY important then she would not have dumped a message in the voice mail box of somebody who said that he would be incommunicado for the next 10 days.

After that she was properly trained.

OK.  For the moment let's accept that ADD/ADHD is worse than OCD.

Where do we go from here?

I mean, my best friend's brother has a severe case of cancer that he is dealing with (quite well, I might add.  The treatment is working).  But he also knows that having a common cold is less severe.  He'd rather have a cold than cancer.

But he HAS cancer and so he's dealing with what he HAS.  Not with what he WISHED he has.

Well, the rash on  my arm has now spread (it goes from my wrist to mid torso) and none of the dermatologists at my office can see me until NEXT THURSDAY!!!  So, my options are "deal with it until then" or "go to Urgent Care and wait for an hour or more with 3 kids" >:(

Have you changed wash powder recently?
Worn some brand new tops without washing them first (the dressing they use can cause allergic reactions in some sensitive skins).
Are there any other symptoms such as silvery lines or scaly skin?
Is there a nurse practitioner who is trained to identify many common skin rashes?  (I realise that the US set up is different to the UK but here I would see the practice nurse in the first instance)

No to all the questions (they have np's for almost everything except dermatology).  It was so itchy last night, I was up until 5 am because it was driving me batty!!!  Every half hour or so, I tried something different (a total of 12 products :o)  I finally fell asleep thanks to a hand towel that I had wet and stuck in the freezer.  It looks better now, but it still itches like crazy!!!  I did call the dermatologists' other office and was told if I call at 8 am Mon, Wed or Thurs, I might be able to get an appointment the following day.  So, keep your fingers crossed that I can get in Thursday if I call tomorrow morning.

Well, I did think you might have thought of all those things but sometimes the obvious answer illudes us.

Have you tried calamine lotion?  It can work.
Antihistamines?

Hope you manage to get an appointment on Thursday.  Fingers crossed for you

I read that online today.  When I went out, the darned thing was back so I grabbed the can of Lysol that we keep by the garbage and sprayed it with that and it didn't phase it.  Guess I'm just going to have to put on my work boots, long pants, and step on the monster and hope it doesn't jump at me again. ;D

With all the Lysol, Raid, Spider Killer, and Hot Shot that's used on this board it's a surprise that there are any insects or spiders left to be sprayed.  :P

I'm not.  Two older brothers sorted this out!!

When I first started work I was the only female amongst about a dozen men.  One day they were clearing somewhere out and found a huge spider which they thought they would tease me with.  Ends up with one of the other guys on a table trying to get away from the spider whilst I coaxed it into my hand to take it outside.  LOL.  They didn't try that again.

I can handle little ones, but it's the big hairy ugly ones that bug me.  I'm also okay if I just see one walking by, but it's when they surprise me.  Oh, and one of the baby ones climbed up on my shoe and bit me this morning.  Needless to say, he was squished and I now have a lovely bite that hurts like crazy and it's right at the edge of my shoes so they keep rubbing it >:(

And, see if you can understand this...I used to have a tarantula as a pet :D

I hear ya-I too can handle the small ones but those big hairy ugly ones-yuck. That's usually when I call in the "big guns" (Don Carlos). I usually call him in when I see a bee-I HATE (and afraid of) BEES! It seems stupid to be afraid of a little bee but I guess I have been stung too many times and they HURT!

I hope your spider bite is healing along with your rash.

Ok, here is my whine for the day. We are out on the boat, which is at a mooring, putting up the boom. There is a sign that is floating in the water that says "NO WAKE ZONE" so these big boats have to go past very fast creating a lot of wake. Our centerboard is stuck up so the boat is very tippy to begin with but when we are doing work and these guys have to create a lot of wake just makes it that much worse. Then when we were leaving, we were in a row boat and they STILL have to create a lot of wake.

There have been several times we were out on the lake and HUGH boats go barrelling right past us. Just about everything in the cabin ends up on the floor. Don't these people realize what they are doing? As Stephanie from Full House would say, "HOW RUDE!!!"  >:( >:( >:(

Ok, that is my whine for the day. My wine for the day, however is spumonti.  ;D

Here is my whine for the day. There is a section in the back yard that I have been wanting to plant wildflowers for some years now. Granted I am not much of a gardener and I figured wildflowers will take care of themselves. If grass grows up between them, no big deal. I'm sure that will only add to the beauty. Well, anyway. I bought the seeds. DC informed me the day we bought them that will not plant them. Ok, fair enough. I went out there to dig up that area. The problem is, we have ferns growing in that area. The roots of the ferns are really hard to get out. I managed to take out a few of them and decided that it was too much work that I was willing to do and I figured that I would pay someone to do the work for me. Well, I have made inquires, called a few places and NO ONE has EVER gotten back to me. These are people who advertise that they do yardwork. One of them was even in the phonebook! I just don't understand. They never said that they couldn't do it, they never returned my call. I am so frustraited. Well, my wonderful husband seeing the problem I have been having trying to find someone, said that he would help me. I do appreciate that but he did say that he wasn't going to do it and I really don't want him to do something he doesn't want to do. So, meanwhile, I am still looking for someone who want to do it.

Anyone want a job?  ;)

We had a an area that was completely overgrown with bramble.  We chopped it down and then just rotavated it.  Then we turned the area into a reasonable lawn.

And in my experience it generally isn't possible to fold your pushchair single-handedly whilst holding onto your bags and your child(ren) and then find a seat before the bus moves off. It used to cause me problems when Elizabeth was a baby and I caught the bus to town.

Where I live most of the buses now have an area of folding seats designed to also form an area for parking pushchairs without removing the child or it can be used for wheelchair users.

Do want you want to hear whining? THIS IS WHIIIIINIIIING!!!!!

Ahem...

There are some things that really annoy me when it comes to my job.

People who leave empty pop and beer cardboard in the carts, this happens way too often. One customer handed me her cart the other day and I saw a pack of beer. She said "That's empty". There are times I really want to tell them off.

There are also a lot of times where I clear the lot and most of the carts are on one side of the lot. While this isn't rude like leaving trash in carts, it's still annoying as all it takes for me to have to clear the lot is for one side to be empty.

I've got a couple of things to whine about:

1. I went to the drug store, and bought two bottles of mouthwash to earn bonus Aeroplan points. Well on the receipt, it showed the base and bonus points separately, but didn't add up the total for me. I find that a little annoying.

2. My computer. It's an Acer, and I don't recommend it! My computer has been giving us grief, and things are just getting worse. Some major issues are that there is no longer a webcam that's working, the keys have a mind of their own, supersensitive scroll bars, and I've had the connection crash on me more than once (plugging and unplugging didn't fix the problem)....People say to just send it in for a diagnosis, but I'm debating whether it would be cheaper in the long run to just buy a new computer altogether with all these issues.

Totally, hear ya. I have a Gateway and a month after getting it, the motherboard died. I brought it in and the replaced the motherboard with an Acer.  :-\\  Since that time, it has not worked right. After a while, everything starts acting up-if I'm watching videos, it starts getting kind of wonky on me and I have to restart. In my case, I know it is not software problem because I have reinstalled the OS I can't tell you how many times. It is a hardware problem. I think the Geek Squad at Best Buy didn't do a good job at replacing the motherboard. After fighting this thing for about 3 years, I broke down and bought a new computer (a Dell)-which has a few upgrades like a faster processor and more memory. OS & storage are the same as this one. It came in yesterday and is sitting next to me right now. Today, I am saving all my files. And then tomorrow, I will be setting up the new computer. I certainly hope the new computer works much better than this one does.

Have you tried to reinstall the OS (I'm assuming you have Windows)? It is a pain in the ass to do but sometimes it does make things work much better.
