I found that out myself a few weeks ago.  They got over 250 locations across the US. :)

Here's an interesting little tidbit for my fellow Canadians.  I learned this yesterday and it's something i've always wondered about ...

Ever see this little logo on an album before?

http://i2.photobucket.com/albums/y7/whistledog/MAPL.jpg

The CanCon rule requires that Canadian radio stations play (i believe) atleast 30% Canadian music.  That logo means that the album contains Canadian content and it gives a Canadian artist a better chance of having their songs played on the air :)

Often certain sections of the logo will be highlghted in white, signifying that the recording is not 100% Canadian ...

M - the Music is performed by a Canadian
A - the Artist is Canadian
P - the recording was Produced in Canada
L - the Lyrics were written by a Canadian

Unfortunately I had no camera on me. I guess the theatre had this wall there for years and when they restored the theatre and tore down the wall, they unearthed all these old signatures which looked as if they had been written yesterday. I couldn't believe how preserved the pencil looked. They must of not known for years. There were also signatures from Mae West and Al Jolson, but Jolson's was covered in plexi-glass.

Rightly so, I hope they do the same with Gable's as it's way too valuable - actually all of them were just fun to read and deserve equal preservation. They also had drawn some funny drawings of an opera singer and an old fashioned football player. Recent signatures had been added to continue the tradition.

In the United States, absinthe is not a controlled substance but its sale in bars and liqour stores is banned. Absinthe is still however legal to purchase and possess in the United States . In most of the European Union, absinthe may be sold as long as it stays at 10mg of thujone. In Canada, absinthe is completely legal, and on sale in some liquor stores.

Unlike most other internet based absinthe shops, our absinthes contain the original levels of the psychoactive ingredient thujone. It is thujone that produces the celebrated "absinthe effects".

You won't - and you shouldn't until you are over 30 - having real friends and being a purpose to society is very grown up and being a grown up is highly over rated.  I don't think I had more than one or 2 real friends until I was 35.  And I'm still not sure if I want much to do with society as a whole.  And I'm 40.  Create your own reality and make it work for you.......

The best cure for something like that is videocam.  If this is not at the addiction phase you can stop it

Howard you have a good heart.  Where I come from, NO gift would be seen as an insult.  The old adage is true "it is the thought that counts".  Yeah, perhaps a 2-month-late anniveraary plaque is late, but it is still a celebration of your relationship with her.  Very odd response from her, it seems.  :-\\

Is that another rule of hers?? That it has to be Hanukkah related?

I can understand her wanting you to get a job and all... because that is for your own good, and she probably needs to know she won't have to be supporting you for the rest of your life if you decide to stay together... but a gift doesn't have to be Hannukah related... she should appreciate the fact that you went out and got her something.

it's an out of print movie....and I happen to have 2 copies of it.  I found one at Goodwill years ago...and then I found the other one at a local video store...they are trying to get rid of their VHS movies...so I picked it up for $2.  It doesn't play all that great...so I am hoping that my other one does.  That movie FREAKED me out as a kid...and it still is kinda creepy to me, even now. ;D

They should put it on DVD.  Alot of those old 80s Canadian films and shows like "The Edison Twins" and "Tommy Tricker and the Stamp Traveler" that made noise in America and overseas belong on DVD

Why does your job coach care when the clothes you're wearing were purchased?  As long as you're dressed nicely, he shouldn't care.  He's not concerning himself with things that matter.

I hate dumb people that are waiting on a parking space.... when they come within a foot of the car and expect the driver to pull right out without any problems  ::)

But this guy was walking towards the parking lot. He was trying to cross the roadway in front of an oncoming car (mine), and insisted on proceeding. It's almost like I wasn't even there or something.

My own name has variant spellings (Jeffrey and Geoffrey, although the latter is probably used more in UK). And my mom, whose name is Janis, often gets her name spelled the other way (Janice, which is probably more common), even after she tells others the proper spelling...which is even listed in her email address!

By the way, my friend with the "unusually-spelled but common-sounding" name... her name is Netosha.

I know it stinks but I learn to deal with it the best that I can, that's the way it is with us cart-guys, we get some freedom that people indoors don't get like if we want to take a short break, so be it, we could just as long as we don't slack off, we have no rules or regulations, no one over our shoulders telling us what to do (except for the front end managers) but it's rare over there, we just push carts, take breaks and go home.

It was pretty easy. I bought some frozen fajita meat, it was already seasoned and everything, and i sauteed some sliced onion and bell pepper in butter until they were kind of soft, threw the meat in, until it was heated and at the same time, put some tortillas in a warm over for about a minute, then I put it all together, topped it with salsa and enjoyed myself. LOL.

(But you could cook up some sliced skirt steak if you wanted it "fresh". LOL)

That's great

I'm scheduled to finish it this summer (by the end of August), but I could finish it sooner if I finish each element ahead of pace.

How many classes do you take for it?  Is it just one a day?

Yeah, 8am-4pm. There are a number of elements to the course; I have finished some of them, including Electronic Calculator, the basics of the Windows operating system, and Microsoft Word 2010. Currently I am working on level 1 (out of 3) of Accounting, and Microsoft Excel 2010. At some point I will learn Business English, Quickbooks, among other subjects.

I learned a few computer related things in high school.  The only one from this list I did was excel, which I don't remember well.  I also had a powerpoint class and one about making web pages.  This was all a long time ago.  :D

I didn't even learn those programs until after I started college. Except for Word, but this was a rather primitive version compared to what we know now.

The kids now are learning this stuff even earlier.

Which is helpful.

My first experience with word-processing software probably dates back to the early 1990's; I was about 10 or 11. The computer in my dad's office, a little B&W Mac computer, had Microsoft Word on it, but of course it was a far cry from what we know now. And on my 13th birthday, in July 1993, my grandparents gave me and my family a Mac computer which was new then, but became obsolete rather quickly, and had Word Perfect Works on it. Less than five years later, in early 1998, I was a senior in high school and taking a computer class in which we used Mac computers and learned various software programs, including the then-current version of MS Word. That same year, my dad's office's computers were upgraded to Windows 98 with Microsoft Office 97 programs. So when I started college in August 1998, I became quickly acquainted with the Windows operating system, since the computers at my community college had Windows 95 and/or 98 installed as their OS. And I learned how to use Word, catching on quickly with that.

Anyhoo... I learned a few things about a person my family and I knew who recently passed on (this woman was a friend of ours from church): She was (1) a few months younger than my dad, (2) 27 years and a day older than me, (3) a fan of baseball (just like me), and (4) had two sons, the older of whom is the same age as me.

Also I learned that it's a good thing I'm exceptionally choosy in what stuff I buy off ebay.

A friend on Tumblr is boasting about her 1984 Victory tour program and it looks like it got rolled underneath the Jackson's tour bus. I have the same program, but mine is in near mint condition, and stored at the moment between two pieces of cardboard to keep it flat and unbent.

I paid 22 dollars for mine. I'm afraid to ask what she paid for hers. And yes, mine was purchased post-death.

Don't bother to ask, I don't think it's worth it.

If you don't watch really little kids in a sand box- play yard during an egg hunt sometimes they will grab sand & throw it in instead of grabbing more eggs!  :P

Just learned that people still have Easter Egg Hunts. I didn't realize it was still a thing. I went to one Hunt as a kid and my mother couldn't make me do another one as long as I lived. It was a disaster.

I learned not to store cardboard boxes on the floor of the garage long-term (or better yet, not store them there at all). Dust can collect, sometimes form a "ring" around the outline of the box, and it can be hard to clean up. Sometimes the contents can even be affected.
