wow, maybe you shouldn't  ;D  I saw it with my buddy (another ONJ fan) when it opened in the theatre like 1980, then a couple days later I took my girlfriend to see it. We broke up, and then a short while after, I took my new girlfriend to see it. ;D  I love the music in that film, all the songs. We saw Olivia at the Wente Vineyards Amphtheatre in Livermore and her first song was Xanadu. that was pretty cool and she's a fox.

The whole soundtrack (love it) tempts me to watch it.  The premise of the show along with the reviews tells me I should be quite stoned while viewing...

Hmmm, I may be onto something, there...

Took two successive squeezes to see it?  Egads!  The make out movie that year was, I think, Blue Lagoon.  The squeeze was Donna the leggy blond.  Ah, those were the days...

I'm putting on the Xanadu CD right now groove ;) on...

2nd squeeze is now my wife. I was on a roll that year  ;D  watching Xanadu stoned may be a little freaky  :o  I like Michael Beck (Swan from The Warriors) as ONJ's love interest & Gene Kelly is, well he's friggin Gene Kelly. It doesn't matter how goofy or cheesy people say the film is, he's a class act.  **Warning**  there is a animation sequence. I can say no more  ::)
Blue Lagoon and Donna the leggy blond. good times... goooood times  ;)

I LOVE them.  It's a shame they're not bigger here.  I think everyone here has heard at least one Goldfrapp song.  Their song "Fly Me Away" was used in the Target holiday ads over Christmas.

yes it's a greatest hits, but there are some songs missing that should be on it. A Space In Time is a good album & I'd Love To Change The World is such a good song from a cool period in time.  ^ good choice above but it's Queen, so can hardly go wrong  :)
my favorite Ten Years After albums are Rock and Roll Music To The World (hard to find on cd) and Ten Years After Recorded Live, I have that one & it's quite good.

I've never played it.. but yeah, that would be a weird song on piano... does it really follow a key signature? I know the rhythms, especially on the vocals, are weird..

I think it's in G minor.

I think it's in G minor.

I'll mess around with it tomorrow before work. I recently discovered I have a talent for figuring things out by ear (like the Iron Maiden song) on piano (I'd always tried on guitar and failed)... never really tried with "Oslo In The Summertime", though... I'll give it a shot.

It's pretty easy. I figured out the basic bass riff while listening to the song once.

I don't often actually TRY to figure stuff out.. most of the time it just happens.. but I do have the ability from listening to figure out a lot of things.. I got this one Nightwish song after listening to it twice.

I can often tell what chords are playing, but not the notes in the melody or anything.

I can identify G major and B flat major all the time, and sometimes F sharp Major.. but I can't readily identify chords by ear otherwise.

Olivia Newton John is okay and ELO are consistently good. ELO are usually considered a 70s band but they kept going up to around the mid 80s.

Today, I was listening to my 'Phil Collins - Hits' album.

"Ebudae" featured in the soundtrack for the Robin Williams film "Toys".

..and the haunting "Smaointe" is wonderful to hear.

These and other song from Enya are sung in Gaelic.

Yesterday,

The Culture of Ray - Frank Black
Bone Machine - Tom Waits
Wormwood - The Residents
Demons Dance Alone - The Residents
Extraordinary Machine - Fiona Apple
Summerland - Built Like Alaska

You see, I was on an eleven hour drive home from Oregon, and I stupidly forgot my MP3 player at my house;  :-[ so I had to rely on a few CDs I bought while in Portland for my music.

That album always makes me think of a review I read in a book where a music critic panned that album cover, asking "Where do those hallways lead to?  Why is that bloke's face upside down?  Who is that guitarist?  Is he any good?" LOL

Hmmm, i've heard a few which have been out since then. Los Campesinos! debut album 'Hold On Now, Youngster..." is one of the strongest I own I think. And then there's Foals debut album which came out this year. MGMT, Vampire Weekend are 2 more bands who made strong debuts this year. And then there's Jamie T and The Klaxons from last year and bands like The Fratellis, Maximo Park, Hard-Fi, Arctic Monkeys and Kasabian who all burst onto the scene and made names for themselves at same time as Kaisers or have made them since

Just a shame so few of the bands i've listed managed to successfully follow-up their strong debuts (Kaisers included - their latest two albums have been pap)

Yesterday it was mixsets from Dallas-based techno artists NASA Project from 1991 from KDGE-Dallas' (formerly 94.5 FM) EdgeClub 94 show, as well as Liam Howlett from The Prodigy's guest mix on the show from 1/23/1993.

I may listen to one of my mixes on CD on the way home today.  After I hear the traffic report.
