Subject: Going through old posts

Written By: YWN on 03/04/07 at 3:19 pm

I've found an interesting new hobby, provided you're an older member (especially a youngun like myself):  Go through your very oldest posts and see how your personality has evolved.  Apparently I had the gayest sense of humor, because here is a quote from myself from May 26, 2005:

"Technically, I guess we are all Antarcticans, seeing as we are posting on the PENGUIN board!"

...yeeeeeep.  More as this develops...

Apparently I listened exclusively to Beck for a few weeks in November 2005 (several posts in the "What Song Are You Currently Listening To" thread).  I also had no idea what "imperialist" meant.

Me:  You need to listen to "Loser".
My mom:  No...  Why would I do that?
Me:  Because...in the time of chimpanzees, he was a monkey.
My mom:  Uh-huh.
Me:  And...spray paint vegetables...he was a junkie...of...spray paint vegetables, I guess.  Or was that plastic balls...  He mentions vegetables a lot.  Like in "Guero", he mentions a vegetable man in a vegetable van.
My mom:  Maybe he's a vegetarian.
Me:  There you go!  You're a vegetarian.  You and him probably have a lot in common.
My mom:  No...he's a loser.  I'm not.  People like me don't hang out with losers like him.
Me:  ...Imperialist.
My mom:  Superialist!
Me:  I had a turkey sandwich.
My mom:  I know.  Murderer.

This is kind of sad that I'm the only person who is posting here.  It's a nostalgia site, you lazy bastards.  Reminisce.

It sounds like it's "Love Come Down" by Evelyn "Champagne" King. The line is "...you make my love come down..."

Used to post music video polls, dissed '70's disco, Journey, and other favorites/least favorite threads...

Some of the threads I've regretted like how I once liked  Ashlee Simpson for a few seconds  :P

Also I once trashed Mandy Moore, but I actually respect her now.

Now mostly the board game forum and post a few threads

I always go back through old posts here (particularly when I'm bored, and/or nobody else is on, lol), and I've habitually done that in my whole 'Net life too. I'm a little more concise in posting style now than I was earlier. And I'm less evidently Back To The Future-obsessed. More or less I'm the same.

Although, I've always tended to look on posts from, say a year ago and thought: Man, I could say that so much better today! ;)

Now, I've got some old, old-school stuff from now defunct boards saved from, like 1997 or '98 that I saved in Word files. Amazingly some of that stuff covers the very same things that are commonly discussed around here (life things, my opinions of certain bands, growing up in the '80s/early '90s, etc).

There's a couple months missing here and there, due to crashes and some poor choices in software.  Otherwise, I save it all.  I only run ads in the archives, and they almost cover the entire hosting cost of the messageboard.  Which is kind of cool, because the regular users never have to deal with the nonsense of flashing crap all over the place.

LOL it was actually just a joke... it was supposed to be Teddy Ruxpin but I was pronouncing (or spelling) it wrong on purpose so people would get confused... and then I would say that I knew I was right just to cause even more frustration

I never even thought of it as being a sexual reference.

Going through your old posts reads like a diary, for you can read you activities, what you have eaten (or drunk) for that day or you own state-of-mind.

Very true; I even kept diaries for a few years during the mid-1990s so that I could write down my memories for the day, and go back and read them anytime. Since then, I have kept a few personal logs of my favorite memories so I can remember what I did during those days.

I was a pretty big Avril fan (still am- of her first two albums), she's not a genius or anything but it was decent pop music that isn't all about drugs and hos, I actually used to have an Avril Lavigne poster in my room rofl. I remember "I'm With You" was a favorite early in 2003. Britney is a fairly embarrassing guilty pleasure though I've ripped on her at times while secretly listening to some songs lmao. In 2006-2007 I enjoyed ripping on ringtone rap, still hate that trash.

I remember your rants about Soulja Boy, Huey, and Shop Boyz back a few years ago.  I used to whine about Ringtone Rap too like DL4 I used to rip on. I still don't like Ringtone Rap either.

Avril is the A/C pop version of Sade(R&B/soul artist) basically on her slower songs.

posts we like to relive again. :)

Particularly in threads where we've had very lively discussions. (For me, it would have to be some of the conversations we had in the old "I Like to Move MC Hammer Pants" thread (which was terminated in late 2009). I can recall that we talked about things like the E.T. movie and the places where it was filmed, as well as other famous film locations. Some of those discussions have carried over into the current thread.)
