EEEEEEK - I have tried several varieties (the theory always seems to be a good one) - but they all fail me. We even used to make fruit cakes at our house for gifts... It is fun to make.

But I think it is the soaking down cheese cloths with Brandy and letting it ferment for 6 weeks is were the failure is.... Something ain't right

There are different types of fruit cake, my grandmother use to make it like a loaf of bread with just a little amount of fruits & nuts. I 've also had some from a local grocery store where it was plastered with fruit and nut meat that wasn't that good.
Grandma's kind was good (as long as she didn't burn the bread)

I need a big MOTIVATOR right now - going to go do some elliptical action (and not of the variety that I enjoy ;)).

Problem 1 - it is in my 3 seasons porch (let me tell you - this ain't the season - there is thick frost on all the windows)
Problem 2 - my husband just called and told me 1 had to be somewhere in 1 hour (like I am going to do 1 hour of elliptical on my first day back at it- HA)
Problem 3 - I need to get off of here :P

Thank you - and my feelings exactly... Our heater works perfectly fine, the three season porch has old windows (and no storm windows on them) and there are 11 windows on 3 walls. With only one pane of glass seperating them from the outside, yes they have frost and it is cool - which is why we keep the door closed to out there. But we have new windows ordered for the space, so that should help immensely. But it is really fine to do elliptical - since it is cool (you don't have to worry about getting toooo warm).

The house was built in 1918 - so there is only the old leaky windows in the house (with single panes of glass) - and a screen on the outside... So there is no "insulating" air cushion between the 2 pieces of glass to reduce heat loss, and drafts and such

were did oranges come into this conversation ??? Ash is being spontaneous again - But YEAH - I love oranges, clementine, pummelos, and grapefruit (I do not like tangerines or tangelos though - for some reason that I can not put my finger on) 8)

There used to be one in the local knitting shop, I remember when I had baby number 2 they started up knitting clubs (at that time, I was too busy - with 2 babies and very little father at home) - perhaps now I could. I will have to relook into it

I learned to knit a long time ago but the only thing I ever made was a wrist band. Can't remember how to do it.

My mother knits & crochets and the stuff she has made over the years has just been incredible. Two of my favorite things she had made was a very heavy blanket & a Paddington Bear. I remember when she gave me the blanket, she asked, "Do you want this or should I give it to the homeless?" Oh man, talk about making me feel guilty. Yes, I wanted it but there were others who needed it more than I did. Then she said, "Don't worry. I can make another to give to the homeless."

My youngest step-daughter also crochets. She crocheted us a blanket for a wedding gift. That one is on our bed where my mother's is in the office and when we were sleeping in there when the kitchen was being done, we used it.

My poor girl - her party all set (7 little girls all set to come over, get pampered, get pizza, party, decorate cups, make hershey kiss roses and slumber.... laugh and giggle. Addy came home yesterday all runny nose. Today she is red cheeked - no fever - but looking worn out. Sent her to bed early... Hopefully she is not sick for her party :P

Went to Dr. 's to get checked out (mainly because she was exposed to Strep last week - and if that was it, get her on the meds this morning- by party time she would be on them for 24 hours).... Well just a cold, which is what I thought (very low grade fever, runny nose, sore throat, hoarseness, and cough )...

Dr. is funny - have the party, it's just viral "all the kids have been exposed to it already" can't keep em from being sick....

Yes - Black Angus (black of course) - were Red Angus (Red)... Shorthorn (Usually Red and White, Roan, or all white or all red)
hereford (red and white face, feet, tail, belly) Main Anjou - reds or blacks.... charlois (white)....

Cross breds on the other hand - all depend on the dominant traits...

Actually - I will say, wall is still there, it is coming down tuesday... The built in oven is out and the cabinets all built around them are out. Again only 1 wall of lowers is left, sink, dishwasher, stove and fridge... Not sure how I am to cook, when it is all gone and all being reset ::)
