November 3, 2001: Facing elimination in returning to Arizona, the Diamondbacks give the Yankees and Andy Pettitte (then in his first stint with NYY) a bad time, jumping all over him in the 3rd inning to score 8 runs and take a 12-0 lead. Dbacks won that game, 15-2, to even the series at 3 games apiece and force a decider the next day.
That's gotta be one of the worst poundings the Evil Empire ever took in a postseason game. :D

November 4, 2001: Game Seven of the World Series is played, between the New York Yankees and Arizona Diamondbacks. Yankees, in an attempt to win their fourth straight title, take a 2-1 lead on a home run by Alfonso Soriano, and hand the ball to Mariano Rivera in the 9th to close it out, but....

Dbacks have other plans. A base hit, a bunt leading to a throwing error by Rivera (in attempt to get the lead runner out), another bunt (forcing out the lead runner at third base), a double (to score the tying run from second base, thereby blowing the save opp), and a hit batsman, sets the stage for Luis Gonzalez....

...who hits a bloop single out of the infield to score the winning run!!!! :D :D :D

That's gotta be one of my favourite World Series endings that didn't involve the Dodgers or Angels.

A game infamously remembered for that incident. :(

The AFC champion New England Patriots would win that game, 32-29, over the NFC champion Carolina Panthers.

That was a great game. I think there were 3 points scored in the first half of the game and the rest of the points were scored in the second half of the game. Nobody could stop Panthers WR Steve Smith during the 2004 playoffs and Super Bowl.

February 3, 2002: The Super Bowl was played in the month of February for the first time ever. (This was mainly due to the terror attacks of September of '01 delaying the playing of professional sports for a week.) It was Super Bowl XXXVI, held at New Orleans' Superdome, and the New England Patriots defeated the St. Louis Rams by a score of 20-17.

February 3, 2008: In Super Bowl XLII, the heavily-favored New England Patriots, who were undefeated during the regular season, lost their lead in the last quarter of play; and the New York Giants won the game, 17-14. The game was played at University of Phoenix Stadium, in Glendale, Arizona.
