Oh dear... :-\\

I do hope you were able to shake those thoughts, Phil...

I was awaken by pain shooting down the center of my back, which I somehow managed to tweak in my sleep... :(

Thursday night, I had one of my murder dreams, where I'm killing somebody. Anyway, it was so real that it woke me up at about 5am and for at least 15 minutes I was debating if I should call the cops and tell them or not, until I finally realized it hadn't happened.

OMG Now *That* would frighten the bejesus out of me.  I'd probably be up for the rest of the day if I had one of those dreams.

Has anyone ever tried Valerian Root to get to sleep?  I did, once, and it gave me HORRIBLE nightmares (but when I take Melatonin - I don't seem to have nightmares) so I never took Valerian Root ever again.

I have no idea what Valerian Root is? So I doubt I've ever taken it.

I have dreams like that quite often and usually I can't get back to sleep.. they're so real, like I said, I really think I've killed somebody or something.

What's the thing they give you in place of Ambien? That gives me real weird dreams.

I'm assuming it's the root of the Valerian plant (whatever that is)  ;D
All I know is that you can buy both the Valerian Root and Melatonin in the Vitamin sections of most grocery stores.

Melatonin works best for me, so I only mentioned to my doctor once about takiing it and he said "Well...if it works for you, then go for it.."  Alrighty then, I will.

Lunesta seems to be the biggest advertised prescription sleep aid currently, although I don't imagine it's the most prescribed yet..

Other Sleep Aids apparently include:
Mirtazapine 7.5mg (Mirtazapine is marketed under the tradenames Remeron® in the U.S. and Finland, Avanza® and Axit® in Australia, Zispin® in the UK & Ireland, Norset® in France, Remergon® in Belgium, Remergil® in Germany and Mirtabene® in Austria.)

Rozarem

Ativan

Valium

You can either take a pill of Valerian extract, or sometimes they have it in tea form.

As for me- my wife's alarm clock, which isn't so bad....except it was G'n'R.

You can wash feather pillows (I've done it many times) but they take forever to dry.  But since it was ancient it was probably best to toss it away or you might have had a washer full of feathers.

a young Burt Reynolds woke me up  I dreamt he was a cop & he was trying to arrest me. I have no idea why & I didn't eat anything unusual before I went to bed. it was a weird dream and it woke me up 2 hours before my alarm was set to go off so I went back to bed & then was properly woken by alarm clock

You can wash feather pillows (I've done it many times) but they take forever to dry.  But since it was ancient it was probably best to toss it away or you might have had a washer full of feathers.
I throw them in the dryer with a couple of tennis balls....I do the same to our down comforter ;)

Because I found out that the snooze on my last alarm clock had a shelf life (after so many presses it wouldn't go off anymore), I asked for a dual alarm clock for Christmas.  I set one alarm for about an hour before I have to get up and the 2nd for 30 mins after that.  Then I make myself wake up to reset it after that so that I can wake up slowly but not oversleep if I do happen to go back to sleep.  Sounds stupid, but it's what works for me and I end up either getting up on time or just a few minutes late which isn't that big a deal.

Best thing is just use a cell phone, no land line cept for the dsl. Cell phones can be thrown across the room.  ;D

It's cheaper to throw the cordless. ;D  Besides, we need the phone line for the TiVo and plus, I don't want my mother calling me on my cell and using up all my minutes. ::)  I should just keep the ringer off.  It's impossible to turn it down.

Did I mention a cat curling up on my neck? (Yeah, I discovered the food dish was low  ::).)

Carlos did that one time. He had neighbors (when he lived in student housing at Rutgers) that would keep him up late at night with their loud music. So one day at 7:30 in the morning, he put his speakers facing outside the windows and turned on the 1812 Overture and cranked the volume. Needless to say, he wasn't kept up with loud music after that.  ;D ;D ;D ;D
