Presidential Debate II: The Wrath of Khan...

In one corner, we have...

http://img510.imageshack.us/img510/1335/mavrickxq3.jpg

...and he's up against

http://i36.tinypic.com/2yxkunc.jpg

So,

http://crap.denisvengeance.com/friends.jpg

LET'S GET READY TO RUMBLE!

http://img379.imageshack.us/img379/8711/debatewa2.jpg

which was good, because Tom Brokaw sure as hell wasn't.  Look, Tom, you're the moderator.  You don't let both candidates ramble on for five minutes and then call time on 'em.  It's your freaking job to call time on 'em and cut them off if need be.

http://img397.imageshack.us/img397/2653/equalswatchessv6.jpg

...no matter how much time they're trying to pull out of their ass.  We were promised...

http://i380.photobucket.com/albums/oo244/fheathen/250px-Sam_and_Ralph_choke.png

and we got

http://i380.photobucket.com/albums/oo244/fheathen/Sam_and_Ralph_clock-1.png

My friends,

http://img392.imageshack.us/img392/7499/motivator4269452zh6.jpg

...since neither candidate was interested in answering the questions posed to them, let's just skip the boring parts.  (Besides, did you really want to see pictures of eBay's Meg Whitman being cited as a candidate for SecTreas?)  There's only one question either candidate answered, and it was this:

McCain: Have my friends not heard?

Obama: Do the voters not know?  (Y'know...)

http://img392.imageshack.us/img392/8163/birdwordiv2.jpg

Brokaw:  (chugs the rest of his glass of vodka, gets up, and walks away from the moderator's table.)

Subject: Re: Longest Political Thread Ever

Written By: MaxwellSmart on 10/07/08 at 11:56 pm

Ah, another debate, long on platitudes short on substance.  The way they rigged it they made sure it was lame-o.  And Brokaw's a total ass.  I've thought so since 1984.

Anyway, McCain reminds me of a grumpy old man who can't stand his son-in-law hanging around the house and ran out of Prep-H that morning!

Pretty much.  No matter who you vote for, the Government wins.

Obligatory picture:  as for Paulson's Troubled Asset Recovery Program, I've been saving this one since the bill got passed:

Hey, this is no time for half measures.  I threw in my mouth a little bit too.  If, by 'mouth', I meant 'pants'.

And with that image in your mind, you can safely cross of the whole "in my mouth" and "a little bit" clauses.  Yeah, it'll be kinda like that.

Y'all can thank me later for not finding an MP3 of "John Valby"'s cover of "Always a Woman", available as track 15 off Double D at emusic, or Amazon.

Here's what you do.  You got a hammer?  If you don't, ask the custodial staff.  If they ask what it's for, hand them a fifty and tell them never mind.  When you've got the hammer, hit yourself on the head as hard as you can.  "Barack the Magic Negro" should subside.  If it doesn't, repeat the process until it does.  If necessary, ask a co-worker to take over hammer duty.  If they ask you what for, hand them a fifty and tell them never mind.

We went 28 pages - 420 (munchies, anyone?  arbeit macht fries?) posts - including a Presidential campaign.  Dude, it was time.  We've got standards here.  No political thread's ever complete without at least one reference to Nazis!

(Besides, in keeping with the folk song, it was either MC Hammer or a screencap from The Passion of the Christ.  I'm goin' to hell either way...)

Sounds like a limerick:

There once was a break-dancing Nazi
Who often would get down and party
While out on patrol
He would drop, spin and roll
While his Kam'raden looked on aghast-y

Pete will probably agree that Bush is the worst president that we will ever have and should be judged....So he'd be like my boss (not my pastor, he went for McCain).

But this might shock you...Bush I wants Jeb to run for President in 2012.

That will happen...like Dennis Kucinich would be President in 2016. I'm sorry, but Bush left a bad taste in many people's mouths. 8-P

actually i think GWB2004 and Dubya hisself got divorced a while ago, as I recall, because Dubya doesn't hate immigrants enough.

i can tell you, though, that according to the True Believers, the economic collapse is totally the democrats' fault because back in the 1990s sometime they passed a bill that encouraged poor people to buy homes.

I did say that Dubya may just be the best thing that happened to this country-meaning he put in place all the things that the neocons wanted and look what happened? Dubya's example will be held up as what NOT to do. He has managed to destroy just about EVERYTHING he put his hand on so now we have to start from scratch. And now is the time for TRUE change in this country instead of the status quo that has been for the past couple of hundred years.

Bush is the worst president ever, but he couldn't have done it without the help of the Democrats in the senate who refused to stop two ill-gotten Bush "victories," who voted for the USAPATRIOT act, who beat the drums of war as loud as the Republicans, who kissed ass to big business greed, who vied to say the nicest thing about Israel, who schemed with Republicans to prosecute a successful defeat of the middle class, who refused to impeach Dubya when the gained control in '06, and who generally cowered and simpered in the face of fascism.

Now, however, they've got both chambers of Congress, the executive branch, and an electorate crying out for deep reform.  This is turning into the worst recession since WWII and Bush is the most consistently unpopular president in the history of modern polling.  In short, the Dems have no excuse to maintain the status quo.  If they do, they'll prove George Wallace right, "There's not a dime's worth of difference between the Democratic and Republican parties."  Right now, I think there's twice that--maybe twenty cents worth of difference!

I do agree with you saying that Bush is very unpopular through modern opinion polls, he outranks Nixon right now.

Being an amateur President Historian, some 'bad' Presidents were actually popular. Warren G. Harding, who probably had the worst scandal in Presidential History had a very good popularity. The same goes with the opposite with Abraham Lincoln (I know, I'm beating the dead horse here). He wasn't popular until he died.

Max, do you have friends that disagree with you about presidents...that are in your region?

no it was bush but i'm fudgeing ignorant. he was talking to the president of brazil.

bush asks president of brazil: "do you have blacks, too?"
by Der Spiegel (Germany) - June. 17, 2002

It is said, that, before September 11, George W. Bush thought the Taliban were a Bavarian brass band. Now, thanks to his comprehensive knowledge, the most powerful man in the world has got into hot water again.
Washington - It was Condoleezza Rice, national security advisor, who helped her boss out of the embarassing situation. During a conversation between the two presidents, George W. Bush, 55, (USA) and Fernando Henrique Cardoso, 71, (Brazil), Bush bewildered his colleague with the question "Do you have blacks, too?"

Rice, 47, noticing how astonished the Brazilian was, saved the day by telling Bush "Mr. President, Brazil probably has more blacks than the USA. Some say it's the Country with the most blacks outside Africa." Later, the Brazilian president Cardoso said: regarding Latin America, Bush was still in his "learning phase".

History may, I won't.

Bush did fund money for Aids in Africa, but only after Bono shamed him into it.  They made a big production about how much money they would give, then didn't write the check.  Bono waited, then got pissed and started talking about how they hadn't received the money so in order to avoid embarrassment they started trickling the funds, of course with the birth control caveat.

OK, so every once in a while, the Wonkette tips line gets an email from nationally syndicated cartoonist Jeff Danziger, which generally consists of just an attached image file with no accompanying text. I generally end up not using these, because I can’t fit them into whatever half-assed theme I come up with for the week at the last minute, so with his latest submission Mr. Danziger has apparently decided to up the ante. Since he sent it to me, I suppose nobody can object if I reproduce it here full-size:

http://img.wonkette.com/wp-content/uploads/2009/01/090116-1.jpg

So, uh, yeah, that’s pretty much a naked Dick Cheney, his flabby ass cheeks on full display, preparing to drop a semen-filled condom bearing the slightly befuddled face of George W. Bush into the toilet. (Question: Is the Bush-condom “ribbed” for “her pleasure”?) Now, Mr. Danziger might think that this sort of thing is “hip” and “cool,” but I have to ask: What about the children? See, my wife is a professional sex educator, which means she goes to schools and talks to the youth of today about sex diseases and baby-making and whatnot, and she always emphasizes that you should never flush condoms down the toilet, because you’ll block up the plumbing and then your parents will have to call the plumbers and they’ll find the condoms and you’ll have some ’splaining to do.

Anyway, I have not been able to find this cartoon anywhere on the Internet, not even on Danziger’s own site. This makes sense, because obviously no reputable newspaper would print it. It is repugnant and offensive, and we at Wonkette are proud to present it here.

It was after the election when I was talking to my hair dresser about it. She said that she voted for McCain because even though Palin was unfit for the job of VP, she figured that McCain is such an old coot that he would probably live for the next 4 years but she figured that Obama would be assassinated and she can't abide Biden.  ??? ??? ???  That doesn't make sense to me but whatever.

The American President (1995) starring Michael Douglas and Annette Bening.  Very good movie.

It's nice to see all the optimistic comments now that the day is finally here and everyone is ready for change. I  only wish
I could share the optimism. I hope Obama makes me eat my words, I hope he proves how wrong I've been, I hope he
makes me so proud that he is our President that I will work diligently for his reelection in 4 years. As of right now though,
I can't help but feel that he just pulled off the biggest scam in history.

I certainly hope it's not a scam, this is the first time I've ever voted for a Democrat :P

Scam to what end?

That he duped millions of American voters into thinking he's the great savior. The one to right the ship and get us out
of this economic hellhole and to fix all the wrongs inflicted upon us from the Bush administration only to prove he has his
own selfish agendas and all his promises of American glory was just a smoke screen to set him on his path to fame and
fortune while "we the people," suffer through 4 more years of the same old bullcrap.

Like I said though, I hope he proves me wrong and if he does it will be the most satisfying bit of crow I will ever eat.

Hold that thought... much as I have an ingrained cynicism, what Obama has achieved in the last eighteen months makes me feel that if anyone can do it, he can.  Though he does have a huge pile of proverbial excreta to shift.  My biggest hope is that he manages to get people listening to him in places where the US president's voice is not normally listened to: not just Israel, but Gaza (& the rest of what might become Palestine), Iran - the people, rather than the select few who pass on the message they want to be heard, leaving a population believing black is white (possibly not the most PC metaphor to use, but under the circumstances I think it works), and making change from the grass roots impossible.

Obama, more than any other person alive at the moment, has the chance to reach beyond the usual audience for a Western politician.  Let's all hope that he uses it as effectively as possible.

*I* am not left handed.

Inconceivable ;)
